Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds
Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds | Paul Zindel
6 posts | 9 read | 3 to read
The old, converted vegetable shop where Tillie lives is more like a madhouse than a home. Tillie's mother, Beatrice, is bitter and cruel, yet desperate for her daughters' love. Her sister, Ruth, suffers epileptic fits and sneaks cigarettes every chance she gets. In the midst of chaos, Tillie struggles to keep her focus and dreams alive. Tillie -- keeper of rabbits, dreamer of atoms, true believer in life, hope, and the effect of gamma rays on man-in-the-moon marigolds.

This prompt has huge meaning for me. I grew up near NASA, had engineers for the missions across the street, and had astronauts as speakers in my elementary school. Also, the lunar explorer was cooled by technology from my company, Trane. This moon walk anniversary reminds me of the blue marble that we saw while we were walking in other gravity.

KarenUK Love your take on this prompt.... 💙 5y

A very touching, hopeful play, and the closest thing I could find for this prompt! #walkingonthemoon #rockinmay

Cinfhen I haven't read many plays...that title is 👍🏻 8y
RebL We performed this for competition in high school. We didn't win, but two of us were awarded regional all-star. It's hard to deliver the line, "Atom. Atom, what a beautiful word." 8y
Mindyrecycles @RebL Hahaha, I'll bet! 8y
