A lost again, found again, lost again painter has the chance to work at an artists‘ colony in rural New York. But the majestic lore surrounding the renowned colony and the reputations of the artists don‘t live up to the hype. In fact, the small group of friends residing there turn out to not only be sadly normal, but they are hiding a secret that could destroy the lives of all associated with the colony. Interesting but underwhelming. 3.5/5 ⭐️
I am SHOOK. This book is fucking brilliant. It has it all: smart commentary on contemporary and modern art, feminism, love, betrayal, and twists. It might be my favorite read of the year, and Xe Sands, as always, is narration perfection. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Starting this Edgar-nominated art mystery narrated by Xe Sands is the highlight of my day (so far)
This one is so good. This may be my favorite new author. Read her other book also.

A satire on the art world, as well as the complications of establishing an identity. Are you who you think you are, or more what other people experience? A young artist has to recreate her art after her studio burns. Her idol has died, but she gets a chance to stay at the same retreat as people who knew her idol. Only things aren‘t so clear cut or idyllic as she thought. There are deep secrets here that might change her view of everything.
There seems to be a lot of buzz around this book at the moment, and I can see why. It‘s a satire on the art world and a thriller, with a bit of a mystery thrown in. What really happened to Carey Logan, a young artist, and the narrators idol? The unnamed narrator manages to work in Carey‘s studio space after a fire destroys her own, and she must re-do all the paintings. I really enjoyed this - it whizzed by!
#buddyread starting on #twitter on Monday hosted by the publisher. Love the book so far, an aspiring artist longs to be a part of an elite art group named Pine City. Detailed, very vivid descriptions of art, art theory and a gripping storyline. The book is out now if anyone wants to join in. I did the Night Tiger buddy read and it was brilliant.
Just some books I treated myself to on my birthday last week 📚📚📚📚♥️☺️
When Carey Logan, the darling of the art world commits suicide both patrons and fellow artists are left to wonder why. Enter our unnamed narrator, a raising star of the art scene, who soon finds herself being compared to Carey Logan. Following in Carey‘s footsteps our narrator‘s world becomes blurred between art and reality. I found parts of this story similar to Daisy Jones, Still Lives And Museum of Modern Love. #NetGalley #ARC #BorrowNotBuy
