This is a cracking read but seems a little under the radar which is a shame as it's really nicely written & hugely enjoyable. I loved the use of the fog, not just as atmospheric set dressing, but as a perhaps not over subtle/sophisticated but still effective metaphor. It is oppressive, inescapable, all-pervasive and smotheringly claustrophobic. The fog & the criminal life she desperately wants to escape are indistinguishable for MC Florence. ⬇️⬇️
