I'm having the best time rereading the Witchlands books. There is so much going on in these books. Magical doorways, witches with elemental powers, mythical beasts, political manoeuvring, a raider king intent on domination.

Next onto Witchshadow, the newest book which I've not read yet.

LeeRHarry I have had to stop reading this series - my poor little brain can‘t cope, it is so confusing to me - may pick it up down the track 😊 3y
LazyOwl @LeeRHarry There's definitely a lot going on. A second read through definitely solidifies things and for me Sightwitch was key to helping me understand the world better and what was going on. 3y

“Never in Safi's life had she seen two such women competing for space in a room. She'd seen plenty of men do it, clucking about like roosters in a yard. And she had seen men try--and fail--to bend women whose spines were made out of steel.
This was something else entirely. It was two women a thousand-fold stronger than any man, each with agendas all their own and witcheries that could slay...“ (94-5)“

I finished this book a few days ago and it restored my faith in the series. I love Aeduan so much and I hope he continues to have a large role in the remaining books. #witchlands

In this book, Aeduan‘s story is revealed and, just tear my heart out, was it ever devastating. This only added to the character growth of Bloodwitch Aeduan which was, *eyes fluttering with stars in them*, amazing. In addition, what has developed between Aeduan and Iseult was just…*gasps, sputters, sighs*…the best relationship ever!! Talk about romance chemistry! I ached, literally ached, for the moments when Aeduan and Iseult would interact.

I definitely should have re-read the first two books, it took me a little bit to get back into the Witchland world. But once I did, I enjoyed every minute of it!

There's about 101 things I should be doing right now...

The season is over, but the job of a gymnastics mom is year round. The book prevents too much conversation with other parents. 😬

rretzler Sounds a lot like a soccer mom! 6y
sammisho @rretzler I am a soccer mom too! 6y
rretzler I can‘t imagine how busy you must be. We have been out of town for the last 4 weekends in a row and are gone again this weekend with soccer - a game on Saturday morning and then a 4 hour drive to a game in the afternoon and a 3 hour drive home. And that‘s just one kid! 6y

sammisho @rretzler that sounds exhausting! My son is only 6 so we aren't competitive yet, just in our parks and rec league. I am dreading when both of them are doing competitive sports. My daughter is trying golf this summer too, so she have one practice or another 4 days a week! The things we do for these tiny humans! 6y
rretzler Ah, so your soccer fun is just beginning! I have a 17 yo who played travel soccer until last year and is now in Robotics, Science Olympiad and Math Club (but now he drives himself) and a 14 yo who plays travel soccer and Futsal almost year round. This fall he will try out for the HS soccer team, so he will have training almost all summer as well. When both of them are in competitive sports it can feel like you are run ragged, but it‘s fun too! 6y
sammisho @rretzler I keep reminding myself that I will miss these days! 6y

Susan Dennard was absolutely delightful! I didn't crochet the Aeduan, he travels with her as the photo op mascot. Also thanks to my seat neighbor who laughed when we were discussing changing opinions of characters as new details are revealed and I referenced, specifically, "the Shrek onion." As if there's any other onion worth referencing!

ElyssaReads Love the haircut! 6y
BookFreakOut @ElyssaReads Thanks! It's my twice yearly "too annoyed with the length it's gotta go" haircut. ? 6y

LOVED the newest Witchlands book, out next Tuesday! These high fantasy books feel so fresh and well thought out, amazing friendships and nations/characters that have unique strengths, weaknesses and goals, but avoids drawing strict good guy bad guy lines. The characters grow so much, and it's not done yet! Definitely read the Sightwitch novella first (ideally after Windwitch), it's a series prequel but introduces many key elements to Bloodwitch.
