I've visited 16 actual countries on planet Earth. Most often I travelled to Britain. Also, two extra-terrestrial trips (Mars, Moon), and an estimated 7 fictional/fantasy countries - counting Discworld as one country. 😉

So, this book is basically about the lifestyle of the Malaysian Chinese (esp those rich ones) during the 1960s...where having a concubine is norm (even underage one)...the story goes from past to present to past to present...so, you will get an insight of different thoughts & thinking of past and present...
