If you like books that motivate you and give you a new perspective on teamwork and perseverance this is a book for you. The POV of this book is a third person omniscient as it follows the story of the whole team, however it does primarily focus on one character, Joe Rantz

My son and I started listening to this today. It made him put his phone and iPad down. If that isn‘t a recommendation, I don‘t know what is!

I loved this story! I didn't know anything about this book and I am glad I picked it. I was cheering for this team and for Joe to come out on top from the beginning. Especially after the way Joe's father and step mother treated him. What an amazing true story and history lesson wrapped in one.

Another of Heather's Picks. I'm enjoying this one so much better than the last book.

This was weird. I downloaded two versions of this book so I could listen without delay on two devices not realizing they were not identical. I couldn't find my place in the second version and didn't know why until now. I'm bummed out because I listened to the edited book.☹

The Boys in the Boat is well written and inspiring. The story of Joe's life, the assimilation of the rowing crew & the historical details were fascinating. The amount of dedication, adversity that was overcome, & eventual trust and willingness to be in the race for the good of the team and not the individual truly was inspiring. The Boys in the Boat is a fantastic story that I wholeheartedly recommend. {I completed this audiobook on Aug 8, 2016}

Rowan enjoyed the original on audio, but select portions were skipped - Nazis are best discussed obliquely with sensitive six-year-olds. This version has more telling than showing compared to the original, and still plenty of drama and tragedy.
