It's a dark and stormy afternoon and I'm not leaving this couch for anything! ☕ On deck are the July chapter for my year in The Wood, followed by my current fiction and non-fiction picks.

I‘ve been reading The Dark Days (Lady Helen) trilogy. It‘s so fun! I can‘t even imagine being a woman in that period of history. Thank goodness I live in the 21st century!
1. Tagged is sitting in my TBR-soon pile!
2. Getting my first e-reader coincided with my getting back into reading after a few years dry period. I remember binging Sookie Stackhouse and finally reading Jane Eyre and the Harry Potter series on it. 💜
3. Endeavor Morse (young version as portrayed by Shaun Evans) 💘

Surprise book mail! Always fun when I get a pre-order I'd forgotten was coming. Also got Michelle Obama's new journal that came out today, which is going to be a Christmas 🎁🤫
So many books, so little time! ⏳I can't stop looking at this image! (I didn't create it, but would love to give credit to who did if anyone knows!) Today, I'm digging into the hefty Dark Days Deceit.
📚 Are you reading anything good this weekend?
The conclusion to Alison Goodman‘s New Adult/YA LADY HELEN TRILOGY is a satisfying historical fantasy read with an excellent feel for the period and which further develops the worldbuilding and fantasy elements. However, it‘s overwritten and overly complicated at times and some of the twists were very obvious earlier in the trilogy. The obligatory happy ending leaves room for a sequel series though, which I would definitely check out.
Final installment in this trilogy. I stuck through it all three books even though in all three it was a struggle to finish. The books all have good elements and writing and the setting and genre appeal to me but in all the I reached a point where I was like 100 pages worth of stuff could've been eliminated to make the story tighter.
Concluding book in Lady Helen trilogy was as entertaining as I thought it would be. The books can be described as Buffy meets Jane Austen.
Starting the New Year with the third and final Lady Helen book. Loved the first two and a lighter read than the other books still on the go. Also a library book so needs to get read.
Exactly why I love this series 😍
Hopefully this won‘t be too emotional or I‘ll embarrass myself in the train 🤷♀️
Satisfying ending for this trilogy. While there were a few surprises along the way, I had pretty much figured everything out before the end. Very entertaining, however I do think the author could‘ve wrapped up much sooner (540 pgs.). I enjoyed seeing how Helen matured and developed her talents over the arc. Nice world-building! Anxious to see what‘s next from this author. 4.5/5⭐️
OK, this one I totally got lucky on! It just came out 11/20, but I noticed that it was listed as available at my library...I was skeptical. I stopped by yesterday and could not locate it on the shelves. I asked, and they tracked it down in an office as it had not been shelved yet...YAY, brand new book, and the last of a trilogy that I‘ve been eagerly awaiting! My lucky day indeed! 🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚😊👍
Lucky enough to go out to dinner with Alison Goodman last night (she‘s in Brisbane for SupaNova this weekend), and to score a signed copy of book 3! Two weeks early! Squeeee.... #ladyhelen #historicalfantasy #finalbook #signedbook
