A Cathedral of Myth and Bone
A Cathedral of Myth and Bone: Stories | Kat Howard
6 posts | 8 read | 11 to read
From the acclaimed author of Roses and Rot a Brothers Grimm tale for the contemporary reader (School Library Journal, starred review)Kat Howards exquisite shorter works, nominated for the World Fantasy Award, and performed on WNYC's Selected Shorts. Kat Howard has already been called a remarkable young writer by Neil Gaiman and her dark and enticing (Publishers Weekly) debut novel, Roses and Rot, was beloved by critics and fans alike. Now, you can experience her collected shorter works, including two new stories, in A Cathedral of Myth and Bone. In these stories, equally as beguiling and spellbinding as her novels, Howard expands into the enchanted territory of myths and saints, as well as an Arthurian novella set upon a college campus, Once, Future, which retells the story of King Arthurthrough the womens eyes. Captivating and engrossing, and adorned in gorgeous prose, Kat Howards stories are a fresh and stylish take on fantasy. Kat Howard seems to possess a magic of her own, of making characters come alive and scenery so vivid, you forget it exists only on the page (Anton Bogomazov).

Sleepily working through some short stories. When I realized I had missed this release in 2019 I acquired from the library immediately.

Joining in on the #20in4 readathon this weekend, hosted by @Andrew65 ! Hoping to finish a few more reads before the end of the month, and going with a mix of fantasy and romance.

I read this between May 21 & 27, and rated it 4 ⭐️. On a whole I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. It was probably one of the better single author collections.

#JolabokaflodSwap, Round Three was hard to fit into the Litsy frame! Thank you, @SamAnne ! That sticker is so very me, and I look forward to trying the local chocolates! @MaleficentBookDragon , thank you for organizing this fantastic swap!

SamAnne @StellarDoc Glad you got it. Story behind the sticker: one of Spokane‘s most loved artists, Harold Balaz , has many sculptures around the city. If one views a large public sculpture in our downtown park from the top, that design is visible. It took a few years for anyone to figure it out. He passed away last year and now that image can be found on t-shirts, mugs and stickers. 5y

Finally starting to finish some books! I love Kat Howard. I will read anything she writes. I find her voice so unique. This has been on my TBR for a while and I finally picked it up for the #ScaryScavengerHunt - title with bone.

This a book of magical realism short stories. My favorite was Once, Future a Camelot story. There were ghosts in some of the stories, but I‘m counting this as non-theme.

The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headley and A Cathedral of Myth and Bone by Kat Howard are two of my most anticipated 2018 reads. I got my hands on Mere Wife a few days ago, and Edelweiss just added Cathedral. If anyone needs me I‘ll be dying of happiness in the corner. #omgomgomg
