Hell's Corner: The Camel Club
Hell's Corner: The Camel Club | David Baldacci
6 posts | 14 read | 9 to read
Oliver Stone is standing in Lafayette Park with his friend and fellow Camel Club member Harry Finn when a bomb detonates and knocks him unconscious. When Stone awakens in the hospital he learns that the British Prime Minister might have been target of the bomb blast. Only a last second change in plans saved the man's life. There were three people in the park that night that shouldn't have been. Stone and Harry Finn are tasked to find out who they are and whether they had any ties to the bombing. The UK sends Mary Chapman, a lethal and experienced MI6 agent, to help Stone and Finn with the investigation. Stone senses that his government is willing to sacrifice him during this investigation and he must watch his back. As Stone and the Camel Club dig deeper, he realizes that what happened in the park wasn't what it appeared to be. Something might have gone wrong or it might have been merely the catalyst for a much bigger plot, the results of which could be catastrophic.

Last book in The Camel Club series. Oliver Stone is asked to track down the source of a terrorist attack. A bomb explodes in Lafayette Park in front of the White House and Stone is given an urgent assignment: find those responsible. British MI-6 agent Mary Chapman becomes his partner. Stone enlists the help of the Camel Club. Start with book 1 entitled The Camel Club. The whole series is entertaining and exciting and I highly recommend reading it.

bookaholic1 I'm reading this after I finish reading the book I'm reading...what a coincidence....lol 4y
EadieB @bookaholic1 Our reading group on LibraryThing is probably going to start the John Puller series next. We love Baldacci! 4y

Belated report on totals for end of day 7 of the #JoysofJune Readathon.

A rare day where I read just from one book, although I did finish it. Altogether read 215 pages yesterday and finished one book.

Overall totals :

2216 / 3000 pages read, need to read 392 each of the last two days to hit the goal.

6 / 7 books finished

0/2 #NordicNoir books read. Such big books only likely to finish one before the end of the Readathon.

TheEllieMo Wait, what? There‘s been a readathon? I totally missed that 😫 5y
Andrew65 @TheEllieMo Yes running from 13th - 21st June. Will tag you in the next one. 😊 5y
TheEllieMo @Andrew65 aww, thanks. I‘ve not had much time to scroll recently so I‘ve missed a few things 🙄 5y

The schedule for the Group Read I am leading on Librarything over the next week, this is Book 5 in the Camel Club Series . This really is an excellent series which only gets better as the series progresses, a shame this is the last book in the series.

Will be reading this during the #JoysofJune #Readathon

EadieB @Andrew65 Thanks for the schedule! Looking forward to this one! There is a short story that he wrote in 2014 where Will Robie meets up with Oliver Stone. We call these novellas “extra income!” 5y
Andrew65 Yes I‘ve noticed that one and will have to see if we can get hold of it. Think it is only available in ebook format. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes! it is $2.99 and only available in ebook. Not sure it's worth it. 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB The price of these novellas and short stories sometimes amaze me! (edited) 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 It is crazy! They put out full novels and put them on sale for $.99 and then charge $2.99 for a short story. Does not make sense! 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB It‘s absolutely crazy! Surely earning enough from his books to offers these free if purchase another one of his books. (edited) 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 There cannot be much happening in these short stories. It‘s just two characters from two series meeting up. Who cares! Stupid! 5y

Can you tell that my husband is allowed only one shelf in the bottom corner of my library?! 🤣

Eggs That must be holy hell for him 😂😂 5y
cathysaid 😂 😂 😂 Here's one instance where I'm glad my husband isn't a reader! 5y
squirrelbrain Mine isn‘t much of one @cathysaid.... He only started reading properly in the last year or so, he‘ll read a book or two on a week‘s holiday and a bit in between. He knows that he likes though, his black books as I call them. That‘s why they‘re hidden away - the covers are too depressing and samey! 5y

Running a bit late today and everyone else has been so clever with their #redrighthand posts....

I‘m not feeling clever at all 🤪 so I‘ve gone with the film Hellboy and this is as hellish as I could find....
