Seismic Shifts: The Little Changes That Make a Big Difference in Your Life
Seismic Shifts: The Little Changes That Make a Big Difference in Your Life | Kevin Harney
20 posts | 1 read | 5 to read
Is it possible for a person to experience dramatic and powerful transformation? Can an ordinary man or woman begin a season of forward movement and growth in areas that have stayed the same for many years? Can our dream of becoming more like Jesus and experiencing a life of health, growth, and joy become a reality? Not only is it possible, this is exactly what God wants to happen. In the physical world, this kind of change is called a seismic shift. A small movement in the crust of the earth can send out shockwaves that have radical and far-reaching effects, redefining an entire landscape. It is the same in the spiritual world. Small changes can transform our faith, hearts, relationships, personal habits, finances, and even the world in which we live. If we are willing to make small, simple, biblically inspired seismic shifts, God will enter the process and do amazing things, transforming our lives into ones of joy, victory, and purpose. Heart Shifts That Expand Your Faith Shifts That Bring Health and Rest Shifts That Build Dynamic and Lasting Relationships Shifts That Make You Rich Shifts That Change the World The book includes discussion questions and can be used in a six-week, church-wide campaign with personal learning, small group discussion, and weekly worship services.

Mehso-so

I enjoyed the journey it was to read through this book, especially finding out fellow Littens were being impacted by the messages in its pages along the way. That was cool to see happen being that I don‘t know any of y‘all in real life.
That said, the book was chalked full of many “gems of God wisdom” moments that will stick with me and I‘ll refer back to. The book itself seemed a little too “Bible thumper-ish” for my liking, however. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jesus‘ life stands as a model for all who call themselves His followers. We are to love people as He did. We should not see them as obstacles or projects. Through the eyes of Jesus, we need to see people as valuable, important, and worthy of God‘s love and ours.

Okay, so I know I am still going to fail miserably at getting to 24 hours, but I‘m still proud that these stats helped me finish this book!!
While it would be amazing to be able to read 8 hours in one day, I‘m not sure I could do it. Maybe there is more of a method to this than I applied for participating in my first readathon....It was also cool to connect with so many Littens who had tidbits of this book that resonated with them. #24b4Monday

justagirlhighonbooks I'm probably failing as well.😂 6y
Chelseabillups30 @justagirlhighonbooks, reading all day is great in theory, but I don‘t know that I could do it for an entire day.....I usually would say I hate to adult, but I started to feel legitimately neglectful with things around my apartment for literally the first time in my life..... 6y
BeansPage @justagirlhighonbooks @Chelseabillups30 remember you don't have to hit 24 hours. participation and having fun is the key in this readathon. I think you're both doing splendidly! 🤗2 6y

Chelseabillups30 @TheReadingMermaid, being that I have to use Sundays as my meal prep day for the week, I‘m not going to rule out reading tomorrow, but I‘m not expecting I will get anywhere near 24......this first one was still a lot of fun though and I seemed to have finished a book that a lot of my Litsy friends were very responsive to!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y
SleepyDragon I'd have to add multiple readathons together to get to 24 hours. I usually average around 5 hours, as weekends are usually when we do chores and run errands. I usually get more reading time during the week. That's why I like this #24B4Monday. There's zero pressure and just fun. 6y
Andrew65 This is a great total, especially for your first Readathon. 👏, as @TheReadingMermaid said having fun doing it is more important than the time you achieve. Many just try to beat their previous time or set their own target. (edited) 6y

It is not the message of God‘s love that most people resist; it is the way many followers of Jesus try to administer it.

Jesus left the glory of heaven, took on human flesh, suffered on the cross, died, and rose again. He did all of this to make a way for lost and sinful people to come back home to their Heavenly Father. He calls us to care so much about people that we will pray, work, and sacrifice so others can hear the same amazing news that has changed our lives. It is time to make the seismic shift from us to them.

This is VERY good news!!! 💯 News that I need to daily work on deeply planting inside my heart, soul, and mind. 💜

Our souls, bodies and minds should be refreshed and our lives filled with health and strength. God does not promise a life free from sickness and stress. But he does show the road to peace in the midst of all the complexities we face.

RavensCarm This one hits home with me today. Two months ago, I got run over by an SUV and I know for a fact that it‘s God that saved me. In this season, I daily look towards Him to calm my mind and my heart and keep my eyes on Him. 6y
Chelseabillups30 @RavensCarm, Oh my!! I hope you notice signs of healing from that experience everyday!! Glad this quote could speak to you in this time. 6y

God promises to provide bread for the day. When the next day dawns, we come with our needs and trust God to provide again. Each day, we come before our Heavenly Father and tell him what we need. These needs can be monetary, physical, relational, emotional, or of any kind. When we live with the understanding that our daily bread is provided by God, we learn contentment and gratitude.

How have you experienced the Bible as each of the following:

✝️A lamp

✝️A taste of honey

✝️A training manual

✝️A surgeons scalpel

✝️A sword

This is from the pages of this book, but I really would like to know and for my fellow Litten believers to share!!!!

CouronneDhiver A lamp: a help to find my way // Honey: sweet promises to hang on to // Training: a kick in the bum to take a risk! He who is called will be equipped // Scalpel: Killing my pride one experience at a time // Sword: Battle is not with flesh 6y
hes7 Yes to all of these! 6y
Chelseabillups30 Yes but HOW, @hes7? Tell me, tell me, tell me!! 6y
hes7 😂 Very similar to what‘s been said. 6y
Chelseabillups30 @hes7, how would yours be different? 6y
Author_RaJean Lamp...to guide me back to him when I‘m in darkness such as when I was dealing with depression, honey... when I read and hear of his great wonders, Training...the tool to guide me through life to get to heaven, scalpel...continuing to mold me into my purpose/destiny, and sword... I use his words to fight against the enemy because it‘s a spiritual battle not physical 6y
hes7 Well, I think it primarily helps me to see who God is, but has also given me comfort and reassurance, taught and changed me, and helped me persevere through challenges. 6y

Love love loving this explanation that we need not open God‘s word with the expectation that the message will be the same or even similar to the time before or the time before that. Serving a big God means we have something new to learn from Him each passing day!!!

Worship is a condition of our heart. We can‘t confine worship to a set time of the week in a certain place. We are God‘s worshipers at all times and in all places.

The best thing we can do is hold on to our Father and keep our eyes riveted on Him. This is the essence of faith. When we focus on ourselves or on the things that cause us fear, the trip will always be bumpy and fear-filled. But when our eyes shift from ourselves to God, though the journey night still have bumps and fearful experiences, we have a whole new perspective.
