Another excellent entry in the Gemma James/Duncan Kincaid mystery series. As Gemma and Duncan continue to sort out their complicated family life, Gemma gets a temporary(?) promotion to another station. The past plays a huge role in the mysterious murders that revolve around a musician. Bullies, mysterious neighbors, alcoholism, revenge, jealousy, madness(?). And one police officer gets too personally involved with a possible suspect.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finished my first audio book! This crime series#15, features Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James of Scotland Yard. Their domesticity & family life serve as a contrast to the dark & sordid world of murder. The plot moves between past and present, revealing characters' experiences & motives ever so slowly, building suspense. Her characters are nuanced, complicated, very real, flawed people, often harboring secrets. Highly recommended! #audiobook #crime

merelybookish Are you an audiobook convert? 7y
minkyb Congratulations! Nice review. 7y
kspenmoll @merelybookish Definitely a convert- looked forward to cleaning the kitchen while listening!!!!😂 7y
kspenmoll @minkyb Thanks, writing reviews is difficult for me, and the character limitation is challenging as well! 7y

Finally understanding why Littens enjoy audiobooks so much. 🎧 listening to this while I cook (not often) or do dishes (often- rather do that than cook)and tonight I found myself looking for more to clean so I could keep listening instead of preparing for work tomorrow!😊

Ms_T I also discovered audiobooks after joining Litsy. They're a great way of distracting you from the drudgery of housework! 7y
kspenmoll @Ms_T transformative!!! 😃 7y
BookBabe I love audiobooks! I listen while I paint and go for walks. 7y
kspenmoll @BookBabe Now in chapter 20 out of 26. Enjoying listening while I prepare a meal. A whole new world for me...😊 7y

Finally ventured into the world of audiobooks. Never sure I would have the attention/focus. But my husband got me an Echo dot & I discovered I can cook and listen( usually I play music & dance!) because I can pause or ask "Alexa" to go back to something I missed. Its slow going because he usually cooks or we cook together. But maybe listen with my phone while I garden?

tpixie Yes!! And while driving. Or getting ready in the morning! It took awhile to learn to listen- at first I had rewind a lot, now just occasionally!! Enjoy a new way of reading 📖🎧 7y
rubyslippersreads I just got an Echo Dot too; I'll have to try it with audiobooks. 7y
minkyb You are way ahead if me! 😂 7y
kspenmoll @tpixie Thanks for the encouragement! 7y
kspenmoll @rubyslippersreads Do try! No headset. @minkyb That's due to my husband; would not have bought it myself. 😉 7y

My favorite mysteries are the Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny. But since I'm all caught up with those, I've been reading Deborah Crombie and loving those too. They seem to get better with each book. If you want to give them a try, start with the first one, A Share in Death.

Blaire I love Louise Penny! I'll give these a try. 8y

#mapsonbooks All of Deborah Crombie's hardcovers have a map of the neighborhood (usually in London but sometimes elsewhere in the U.K.) where the murder is being investigated. All maps are done by the same artist. It's such a nice part of the book. I love Crombie's JAMES and Kincaid mystery novels.

BeckyLeJ I've only read the last few, but I do love this series! And the maps :) 8y
Tav @BeckyLeJ Crombie us so talented! New one out in February 2017. 8y

[DELETED] 2232195534 One of my favorite series ever!! Have read them all and am so excited about the new one in 2017!! Love the maps!! 8y
SusanInTiburon She gets it. Most mysteries would be improved by maps. 8y
Tav @kaysreadinglife @SusanInTiburon ooh love finding other Crombie fans... 8y
slhbooks I haven't read any Crombie, but I can see that I need to. I do like maps😉 8y
Tav @slhbooks Sandy she is am amazing writer. The 2 lead investigators are in Scotland Yard, and they are married, and over the course of the series their relationship has developed. The author does a great job justAposing the dark crimes they investigate against the wonderful domesticity of their personal lives. Highly recommend! 8y
slhbooks @Tav My OCD means I have to start at the beginning of a series...and there are 17 so far! I better get crackin'📚😉 8y
Tav @slhbooks you won't regret it!! 8y
