Patricia Wrede has created and mastered one of my new favorite tropes; collecting every character for the finale to create utter chaos that out protagonists have to sort through and resolve. I love it, it's ridiculous and hilarious
I had to return my library books in preparation for heading back to Cali, so I picked this off the shelf from my To Read pile. I'm a sucker for casual magic and adventures, and i'm diggin it so far.
Grrlbrarian's Tips for Beating a Bad Cold: 1. Put on your Deadpool pajamas. 2. ABANDON CHORES. 3. Make yourself a large, boozy hot chocolate (it's medicinal). 4. Ply yourself with comfort nibbles (calories irrelevant - you must keep up your strength). 5. Snuggle up with dragons (quite warming). 6. Crack open a fresh fantasy novel. 7. Repeat until you're well. 🤧🐲📚
The #augustphotochallenge recently reminded me of my old favorites and after a few tough work days I knew just the book to reread for comfort. Patricia Wrede is the best at fantasy and I will always have a soft spot for Mairelon. Now listed as juvenile fiction, when this pubbed in '91 it was adult fantasy set in Regency England. A comedy of manners with mystery, mayhem, plenty of magic flying about and a bit of a Pygmalion vibe. Good stuff 😊
