The NIV Holy Bible | New International Version
8 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
The world's most popular Bible translation in modern English, presented in paperback as a literary classic. As the sacred text of Christianity, the Holy Bible has long been the world's bestselling book. Its incredible stories and profound teachings have shaped our culture and its values underpin our way of life. Love it or loathe it, there's no doubting that this work has a fundamental place in history, and as such is a 'must read' for anyone seeking to understand the development of modern society. With over 400 million Bibles in print, the New International Version is the world's most popular modern English Bible. It is renowned for its combination of reliability and readability. Fully revised and updated in 2011, the NIV is ideal for personal reading, public teaching and group study. This Bible also features: Clear, readable 7.25pt text easy-to-read layout shortcuts to key stories, events and people of the Bible reading plan quick links to find inspiration and help from the Bible in different life situations. This edition uses British spelling, punctuation and grammar to allow the Bible to be read more naturally. Royalties from all sales of the NIV Bible help Biblica, formerly the International Bible Society, in their work of translating and distributing Bibles around the world.

So much talk about figs recently (prior to Leviticus anyway) gave me quite a craving for some, so I was exited to find these at the market! 😋 7 figs in the bowl because of the number‘s Biblical significance. 😊

MelAnn I had fig newtons this week - does that count? 😂 3y
BookBabe @MelAnn 😂 Wow, I haven‘t had those in years! Yet I can recall the full sensory experience of them upon the mere mention of them 😃 3y

Mehso-so

Started with a bang (sort of), the tragedy kicked in early and it was all downhill from there. Some nice poetic touches but the return-from-death twist was rather derivative and ‘borrowed‘ from ET, I presume. Whilst the ‘lake of fire‘ climax was absolutely to die for I found that overall the book dragged in places and, whilst interesting, was hardly the greatest story ever told. Anybody else read this one? Mine was signed by the author.

Bigcountry15 I read this one every year. Sometimes chronologically, other time in the traditional order. This year using monthly plans on the Bible App. I have grown to enjoy the poetry of the psalms. 4y
Mistermandolin @Bigcountry15 I love the psalms too. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘ve been contemplating reading it cover to cover through the years (I think I purchased it in 1985) but never have. I have read sections. I‘ve read the psalms (sections) and did enjoy that. This was a good reminder to revisit! Thank you! Especially after reading Desperation, where he uses a few bible quotes. A couple of characters “find God”. 4y
