I don‘t exactly know how I feel about this book. It was a fairly light, quick read, and I enjoyed it, but I felt the present day character‘s backstory was there without a good reason. I gave it 3⭐️

I know how living in a state of fear creates an inertia. It saps your strength and drains your energy, until you become trapped like a fly in a spider‘s web. The more you struggle, at first, the tighter the silken threads are woven around you, until finally escape becomes impossible.
‘I think we should promise that we will stay true to ourselves. No matter what happens. No matter how bad things get. We should hold on to that truth.'
‘You know, Abi, we all bring our own baggage along with us. Perhaps that‘s what we humans have in common – what binds us together.'
Not my usual genre, but it sounds lovely....and Q9 for kindle at the moment

I tried starting this as an audiobook on my drive home from work today....it was SO HARD to understand their accent that I will have to start it again another time when I can actually read instead of listen!! 🚫🚫🚫
Thank you so much @kstadt929 for the book! It looks really good and I can‘t wait to dive in! Merry Christmas!! 🎄📚❄️
Sweet story, told from the viewpoints of Eliane, a beekeeper in a French village occupied by Germany in the 1940‘s, and Abi, a young widow, staying and working in the same village in the current time. Both learn the strength and courage they hold within themselves in the most difficult circumstances. #netgalley
I fell deeply into the honeyed embrace of this book. Full of war and sadness, it‘s also full of light and love. A beautiful story. I was sad to say goodbye.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable and moving tale.
Beautifully written and vividly told, there's a great sense of time and place. It's all so easy to visualise. The characters are well defined and realistic. I also found the descriptions of the lives of the bees in their hives fascinating and this really added to my enjoyment of the book. A captivating and gripping page turner which I can highly recommend.
Another #netgalley evening. This one is off to a good start. #thebeekeeperspromise
