Okay, I really don't think I can read an Agatha Christie espionage novel again for the next 20 years or so... This one still had lots of interesting and entertaining elements, but at other times it dragged. ⭐⭐⭐

Panpan

I was not expecting to pan a book, so this is kinda weird for me. Normally I LOVE Agatha Christie books, but this is one I wouldn‘t recommend. It had a lot of useless, repetitive dialogue, and I could predict main plot points. That and so many details were vague - they were looking for something that had something to do with some espionage. I still adore Agatha Christie, but I‘d stick with her Poirot series and other novels.

🤦🏽‍♀️Came home to this remnant of my vintage Agatha Christie novel. I don't think Agatha Christie was prepared for the likes of a super villain like Gatsby.

I saved the Littens from the raw, carnage photo of the fresh murder scene. ☠️📖☠️#RIPBook

ValerieAndBooks Oh no!! Many feel that the Tommy and Tuppence books are inferior Christies; Gatsby must agree (but he went overboard with that sentiment 😱)! 7y
Rachel_R._Smith Oh no! The Tommy and Tuppence novels are among my favorites of hers! Good taste Gatsby, but when we talk about devouring novels, we don't mean it literally! 😭 7y
Louise This reminds me of Mark Strand's lovely poem "Eating Poetry": I. . . bark. I romp with joy in the bookish dark! ? 7y
Izai.Amorim Oh boy, your dog would make a great literary critic, this ability to tear up a book and still look so innocent 😇 7y

Although not one of my favorite Christie's, I still enjoyed it. Not a quick book to get through and I think it's because of so much dialogue. I even found there to be unnecessary dialogue. But who am I to question Dame Agatha? She's wonderful.

JazzFeathers This is the first time l ever hear someone complaining for too much dialogue;) 8y
Books-and-coffee I haven't read any of her books but one of my goals for the year is to read at least one of her books. 8y
Rachbb3 @JazzFeathers I know it sounds crazy. There was a lot of "chitchat" that had nothing to do with anything and I kept saying in my head, " Get to the point!" 8y
Rachbb3 @Books-and-coffee I love her books! Enjoy. 😊 8y

Just couldn't do it. This was an audiobook. While the performance was good, the story put me to sleep.

I have never abandoned an Agatha Christie book before and own about 30 of her books... but Postern of Fate is TERRIBLE! I'm half way through and am jumping ship. The characters ramble annoyingly without advancing the plot. So out of character for her!

Of course I could never say I didn't like an Agatha Christie book! This book is a long, meandering conversation and its best moments involve personification of Tommy and Tuppence's dog, Hannibal, but even in her weaker books, I still enjoy her stories!

"All those clues," said Andrew. "You could make a story out of them - even a book-"

"Too many names, too complicated," said Deborah. "Who'd read a book like that?"
