Good solid story about first love, mental illness, family, small town, bullying, and racism. The mystery about what's happening at that creepy house pretty much what pulled me in and with the added local tragedy mystery, completely engrossed all my attention.

What just happened?? Read this! I need a support group to get over these characters, and talk about plot twist!!

I enjoyed my time with this book! The romance was sweet. Although I knew there was something dark going on in that house, I didn‘t quite piece it all together before it was revealed. The ending was satisfying too. I haven‘t read anything by Jamie McGuire before, but after reading this book, I‘ll give another book by her a try!

I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited in November. I decided June is the month I will tackle it! I‘m 40 pages in. So far, so good!

Nope this one was so freaking boring. The dual POV just didn‘t work at all and a few chapters in I just didn‘t care.

In my opinion, this was just one big hot mess. What started out as a star crossed, boy meets girl love story quickly morphed into a murder mystery and the tale of protecting a haunted house of characters. I just couldn‘t nail down the the tone of this book. It didn‘t help matters that I predicted the big “twist” early on. Full of unnecessary details and groan worthy plot devices, this one dragged. In fact, even the acknowledgements ramble on! 😆

Read this! A love story with a dark under twist!!!!! I couldn‘t put this down. I devoured it in 3 days with a full work load.

I‘m reading this book and the whole time I‘m thinking... “there‘s more to this story than it‘s letting on.” Boy was I right. Beautiful prose and the last 30 or so pages are intense! Good read.

This is my favorite book I‘ve read this year. It had romance, it had twists (that I actually did not see coming,) it was just a good book. The cover is gorgeous, too.

He didn‘t hesitate. “That you either get good at rising above and meeting ignorance with education, or you get really good at being bitter.”

Let‘s see... so this book frustrated me a lot while reading it because for 90% of the book the author alludes to something bad happening in Catherine‘s home but no one really pushes Catherine for the truth. Instead you get bogged down with things like mean girls, football games and a little racism thrown in. When I finally did get the big reveal I wasn‘t too surprised because it was one idea I had for all the weirdness surround Catherine.

With a raw, genuine candidness in her storytelling, McGuire will capture readers as she delves into complex matters of the heart. McGuire‘s latest is a story of enduring love that readers will fall in love with.
