pickThe best collection of short stories of 2018! If you‘re like me and love it when short stories are linked together, are very queer, and if you love all things southern gothic, then find this book and read it immediately.
Some bedtime reading
so-soI enjoyed the first part of the collection. The second half seemed as though it could have been a novella. I wasn‘t sure if the stories from the first part were then related somehow to the second after I finished. There were some stories where the abrupt endings made it feel incomplete and others that it seemed to work. #ARC #FirstToRead #2108christyread
so-soThis is an important contribution to Southern Gothic literature. Filled with flawed & haunted characters across the Delta, both the mundane & the oddities of everyday is found here. Many stories are connected, focusing on important moments in a character's life to create a clearer image of previous stories.
While I see the value of this collection, the abrupt endings left me unable to connect with the characters or their stories.
