My local Indie has temporarily closed their doors - but they‘re encouraging you to phone, have a chat and let them recommend something. I phoned. Had a chat. And they recommended a new to me author - Tracy Borman. I ordered both books and then they bicycled them over to me. I sincerely hope all our Indies can survive this season - they truly are the best.
I really enjoyed this novel. There is very little known about France Gorges and Borman manages to bring her to life in this novel. The story is compelling as are the characters. I am glad there are more novels in the wonderful series.
Currently 99p on kindle , excellent read so far
This is one from the TBR mountain; I‘ve not read any of Borman‘s fiction yet, but her non-fiction work on the Tudors is very good.

A well-researched novel about two very interesting topics. The first half details the treatment of accused witches under the reign of King James, and the second half revolves around the infamous Gunpowder Plot (with a love story running through both halves). This made the book feel a little like two novels in one - I would have loved the witchcraft element to continue through the second half as I found it the most interesting.
My baby! 💞
When someone tries to interrupt my reading...
I really enjoyed this book! Witch + history + royalty?? I‘m always in! I just wish there was more plant stuff. The history is well done and the plot great. I loved learning more about this time period, but James VI was the worst! #bookreview #netgalley #arc
I've fallen behind in my #netgalley reviews, so this book is already out. I don't read much historical fiction from this time period, so I can't say how this compares to the numerous other books set in this era, but I liked it & appreciated learning a bit of history that I didn't know much about. It's the first book in a planned trilogy & I'm looking forward to learning more about Frances Gorges.
To be released Jul 13th, Borman has delivered another interesting historical tale. I found the tidbits intriguing but the story dawdled a little in the middle at 455 pages. Three stars. #netgalley
Not quite the cover, but I had to post this book. I‘m a sucker for healers and history. 🌿🌹🌿🌹🌿🌹🌿 #floralcover #takeabookonadate #riotgrams
