Only one woman can stop the world from descending into endless war, in the thrilling new series in the world of the Gas-Lit Empire The year is 2012. The nations of the world are bound together in an alliance of collective security, overseen by the International Patent Office, and its ruthless stranglehold on technology. When airships start disappearing in the middle of the Atlantic, the Patent Office is desperate to discover what has happened. Forbidden to operate beyond the territorial waters of member nations, they send spies to investigate in secret. One of those spies is Elizabeth Barnabus. Finished this yesterday for #FabulousFebruary

This turned out to be better than expected. I‘m always hesitant when male authors are writing female main characters, but the author did a good job. This is a steampunk/alternative history set in 2012.

I‘m using it for #pop22 set on a ship, #booked2022 a nautical novel, #NoShameReadathon - Steampunk, #Roll100, #DecadesReadathon

Megabooks Fantastic cross prompt use! 3y

#BookReport - Finished 2 books this week. Both were really good.

#CurrentlyReading the tagged book. It‘s one of my #Roll100 books. It also fits #pop22 set on a boat. Started Thursday Murder club on my kindle.

#WeeklyForecast - just realized there are only 8 days left of the month and I need to focus on my #LMPBC books!

I bailed on this one. Just couldn't get into it. And the whaling was horrible.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 113.

Hey #LMPBC #GroupC ! Here are some fantasy options. I don‘t have a ton of retellings. Chrissy- I forget which of my retelling books you‘ve already read!

I‘ll tag the books in the comments. Let me know what you all like or don‘t. If none of these appeal to you, I‘ll see what else I have!

This book was so fun to read, I devoured the whole thing in a night and a half. Full of suspense at every turn, the protagonist‘s motives were plentiful and powerful. Beautiful symbolism throughout.

Steampunk featuring a gender-fluid protagonist, w/ feminist themes? Sure, I‘ll give it a shot. But author didn‘t pull off gender issues. Plot dragged a bit, & l wasn‘t wowed by the alternate world in which technology is controlled (repressed) in an effort to maintain global peace. Super-abrupt ending. I‘m not interested enough to read more of these books. 🎧 audiobook — Gemma Whelan‘s performance was great and is only reason I finished book.

readinginthedark That‘s disappointing. 😕 7y
