First Class Murder (Reprint)
First Class Murder (Reprint) | Robin Stevens
A murdered heiress, a missing necklace, and a train full of shifty, unusual, and suspicious characters leaves Daisy and Hazel with a new mystery to solve in this third novel of the Wells & Wong Mystery series. Hazel Wong and Daisy Wells are taking a vacation across Europe on world-famous passenger train, the Orient Express--and it's clear that each of their fellow first-class travelers has something to hide. Even more intriguing: There's rumor of a spy in their midst. Then, during dinner, a bloodcurdling scream comes from inside one of the cabins. When the door is broken down, a passenger is found murdered--her stunning ruby necklace gone. But the killer has vanished, as if into thin air. The Wells & Wong Detective Society is ready to crack the case--but this time, they've got competition.

Three books in & these are proving to be reliably fun & clever middle-grade/YA mysteries. I enjoy being in Hazel's head & this is an homage to Christie's Murder on the Orient Express that hits all of the right notes. I just found the cast of characters excessively annoying in this version; it really shouldn't matter, but it got to the point where I was hoping that all of them would perish in some unfortunate way (except for the Junior Pinkerton).

BiblioLitten This is a fun series. 2y
batsy @BiblioLitten I'm happy that there's still a number of books left for me to read in the series. Reliably cosy! 2y

I love these Wells and Wong mystery books. There‘s something just so cozy about.

In this one Hazel‘s father takes the girls with on the Orient Express for the summer holidays. Upon arrival they meet an acquaintance from from of the previous books that tells them that there‘s a spy onboard. Then one of the passengers gets killed. Are these two things related, or not?

The first book of the year, I read into the early hours and it didn‘t fail to impress me. The third book in the series and based on the Orient Express, the author keeps you guessing throughout even though I thought I‘d worked out “Who dun it”. A great middle grade read and looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thought I‘d move away from festive reads. I‘ve read the first two in the series so on to the third. Recommended by my daughter too 📖

First Class Murder is the 3rd book in the Murder Most Unladylike. This time the girls are on the Orient Express and of course they get dragged into a new mystery. I really love these books! #crimenovels

Another enjoyable and fast paced story! Daisy and Hazel are on holiday and have been forbidden to do any detecting, but when faced with two mysteries - a spy and a murder - they obviously have to get involved! A clever mystery and a fun and easy read 🧡

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The third installment in the Wells and Wong mystery series is a homage to Murder on the Orient Express. It takes place in the 1930's during summer holiday from Hazel and Daisy's English boarding school while on a train, the Orient Express. Soon a murder takes place that is eerily similar to Agatha Christie's new book. The girls use their knowledge of the book to help solve the murder. I adore this cute series.

Another fabulous #RobinStevens #WellsAndWong mystery paying homage to the Orient Express. If you‘re looking for a #middlegrade or #cozymystery novel I highly recommend.

They have just released the next in the series in the US!

The heroines annoyed me, but the concept and characters intrigued me. If only they didn‘t annoy me so; I‘m so over precocious kids (they‘re just mini millennial!).

Hazel Wong and Daisy Wells, the founding members of the Wells & Wong Dectective Society are back and I couldn't be happier. It seems wrong to describe these books as good fun when they're about murder, but they really are so much fun! The setting was a real highlight in this one and a lovely homage to Agatha Christie. The final reveal is clever, but completely believable and utterly satisfying. #mg

Thinking about the tween/teen mystery genre, and how much of it hinges on validating the reality that adolescents actually understand A LOT about dangerous, grown-up things--perhaps more than they should, and perhaps in ways that makes it easier for them to cut straight to the truth.

brownekr Update: well, this point becomes all the more explicit as the book goes on. (Also, as a grownup, I'm relieved that I cottoned on to a couple of the solutions as the clues were given, but I bet a bright modern kid will, too!) 8y

Not the right book in the tag because this isn't in the @Litsy database that I can find yet, but I've skipped straight past Halloween to Christmas books! 🎄 📚

I love the Wells and Wong series - Agatha Christie meets Mallory Towers, but better.

Another entertaining Wells & Wong mystery. This time they are doing something I have always dreamed of doing: travelling the Orient Express. And solving the murder of one of the passengers. With a little help from a junior Pinkerton :-)
