Not great, but a fun romance with a good murder mystery. #romantsy #romance

The romance itself was cut and dried. The humor was great. The majority of the plot centered on a murder mystery, which ballooned into 14 people and an odd villain.

Sands‘s Scottish romances are ridiculous and could use a editor for language (if you take time to pepper in “ken” and “sgian-dubh” you can do research for a suitable Scots epithet instead of “ai yi yi”). I did like this much better than I did the last Highlander romance - the hero and heroine actually discuss plans of action and Edith is treated like a smart person. If you‘ve read a lot of Sands, then the murder plot feels a bit rehashed, oh well.

balletbookworm Bad news for the cover designer though - tartans are the same color in one family (Dougall‘s cover had a blue-ish tartan, this one is red, and Aulay‘s is green for the next one - they‘re all brothers). Glad to see the next book coming is for Aulay (finally) then perhaps one for Rory, since he‘s actually expressed that he‘d like to fall in love. (edited) 7y
