The Enforcer's Oath: Protect the club at all costs. Jackal made an enemy out of Penni when he kidnapped her years ago. He let her go, never imagining she would take a piece of his soul with her. Now protecting Penni against a former brother will force him to place the club against her once again. She may be the Hostage, but he's the one held captive by the lust she refuses to admit binds them together. She thinks The Last Riders and another man will be all the protection she needs to end the tug of war between them. However, he's never lost a battle, especially against a tiny blonde with an attitude, begging him to teach her that her place is under him. To end the battle, he's going to have to reclaim the piece of soul she stole from him or claim a part of her soul as prisoner. When a predator takes you hostage, you're his forever.

Book 3 and I have to tell you this was the one I was excited about and this turned out to be a why? Why had I been so excited for it. Penni was not a likable character...at all. And given she‘s the heroine of the book...this proved to be problematic and so-so in my opinion.

I‘m between a pick and so-so on this one. I was so excited for Penni and Jackal, but was a bit let down. I loved learning more about both characters, but something was missing for me. #thelastriders #mcromance #romance

(Why some are in the database and some aren‘t 🤷‍♀️) I liked this better than the first #predators book, maybe because I knew more about the characters. I wish the reasons for the betrayal had been explained throughout the book because it just seemed a little quick and ridiculous told in the last 5 pages. It easily could have been more woven into the story. But it was entertaining and a quick read. #mcromance #thelastriders

theresidentromantic Stand Off was my So-So for this read through. I felt like her strongest books were the main last riders books and I wasn't especially crazy about anything after that, besides the bitches. Those books were amazing. 7y
Lauren_reading @theresidentromantic I‘m in total agreement so far! The Predator books/Queen City books just aren‘t as good as the others. 7y
theresidentromantic @LaurenReads I remember hoping they were darker too! Oh well. I remember enjoying Penni's book, though. Are you reading these after all the last rider books or in reading order? 7y

Lauren_reading @theresidentromantic I‘m reading them in order so I‘m excited to get back to the last riders 😀 7y
theresidentromantic @LaurenReads I'm excited for you! Can't wait to see your thoughts 7y
CoverToCoverGirl The Predator books don‘t even come close to The Last Riders but they do help grow the story arc. Lucky you Lucky‘s book is up next! 😏 7y
Angela66 Interesting. Cover isn't bad either 7y

(Not in system)
Probably my least favorite book in these connected series. I enjoyed it, but I miss seeing more of the characters I love and I never warmed up to Ice (ha!..get it?) I can‘t wait for Penni and Jackal though...#thelasteiders #predators #mcromance #romance

It can keep the So-so rating I gave it for Stand-off. I don't know what to do with it, to be honest. A minor plot error, but large enough to annoy me, MIND BOGGLING logic from usually intelligent, rational characters, and the fact that they want me to believe Penni is broke all the time. But then a really sweet ending. I think I need to step back for now, though.

@CoverToCoverGirl @CocoReads I've really enjoyed this series ladies ❤❤ Thank you!

I am about to throw Winter out a goddamn air-lock. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! You are an educated adult female and there are no less than three biker groups at your compound. And you've been given the best men AS PROTECTION FROM SCARY PEOPLE. GAH.

theresidentromantic @CocoReads I'm at a level of flabbergasted that defies my own understanding. 7y

CoverToCoverGirl 😳😬😬 one of those pull your hair out moments but it moves the plot along, even if we don‘t like it, when an otherwise intelligent person(s) makes an extremely unintelligent decision 🙄 7y
theresidentromantic @Pamwurtzler There are poor choices and then there are choices so completely out of character, I don't know what to do with them. 7y
theresidentromantic @CoverToCoverGirl I saw what was going to happen right as I read these sentences, but I can't bring myself to open this again today. I'm just so beyond disappointed in both the characters and the author. THIS is your priority? Have a little faith! 7y

@CoverToCoverGirl @CocoReads

Guys, I'm really confused. I thought that this book started off with Penni buying a house and being upset that she couldn't go outside because bees. That and also she's the manager of an extremely popular band. Please forgive me if believing your bank account is empty is beyond the suspension of disbelief. 😛😐🤔

CocoReads Genny works two jobs. I haven‘t read that one in awhile, I‘ll have to go back and see if I remember. 7y
theresidentromantic @CocoReads I mean Penni. Here it says she couldn't afford to buy her condo, but the beginning of the book plot was all about her newly bought house. 7y
CocoReads I think she‘s using house and condo interchangeably. But Genny bought Willa‘s house off her. And Penni is older than 19. When I get home I‘ll pull it up and see if I can figure it out. I actually wasn‘t buying Penni having an empty bank account though because 1. Shade paid for her college so no student loans and 2. If she was managing a little indie band she wouldn‘t make much but I think Mouth2Mouth is bigger than that 7y

CocoReads Most of the bands I see don‘t have managers because they‘re just smaller bands without a deal, they do everything (and I mean everything) themselves. 7y
theresidentromantic I'm totally fine with Genny buying Willa's house. It's Penni I'm really confused about. Like I thought her backyard filled with bees was a plot point? And yeah they do cross country tours, I'm assuming they're about as famous as like Train or Mumford and sons. 7y
CocoReads @theresidentromantic it‘s a minor plot point, it was a tad misleading. That was the level of fame I was thinking about. The guys I know are mostly east coast/southern states/Midwest tours. Although at least one of them have been farther in the last year or so but as I get to know them better I know more details on how it works when you do it all yourself. They attention to detail is staggering. 7y
CoverToCoverGirl You‘re correct the bees are in the bushes behind “her” house.. hmm.. 7y

Tagged is book 3, which I'm reading now, this is book 2 in the Predators. Stand off was ok, I enjoyed both characters. But I wasn't a huge fan of the plot or the pacing. It felt really fast and then too slow in some parts. It was another one where I felt like I was reading on fast forward. The ending was good, but I think this is going to have to be my first so-so of the series. I don't think I would read it again.

Huh. Not sure how I feel. The first half I didn‘t like, and thought oh crap-I didn‘t want to be disappointed because I‘ve been fascinated with Jackal and Penni from the beginning. But the second half flew and although I felt like it could have been better, I was satisfied in the end. I may need to take a short break though. Winter is next and I fear it‘ll be a heartbreaker.

Finally! The confrontation between Jackal and Shade that I‘ve been anticipating! Unfortunately, the rest of this has been almost as big of a disappointment as the other Predator books. They just aren‘t The Last Riders....there‘s still time though. I‘m only halfway through.
