I have never done this before, but I have to tell all of you about this experience. A few years ago we read the tagged book for my book club. It was not a hit. One of my best friends posted her honest review on goodreads and more than two years later the author left a very mean comment to her. The point of writing a book, in my opinion, is to get your story out there. Some people may not like it - but that doesn‘t mean you should bully them. ⬇️⬇️

Victoriahoperose I am so shocked that an author would be so mean to someone who didn‘t like their book. It happens 🤷🏻‍♀️. I am also a writer (not published) and have been to workshops where people have ripped me apart and then gone out for a glass of wine later. I value the criticism because it makes me better to maybe someday get published. Has anyone else had this experience like my friend did with an author who did not like the criticism?? 4y
Well-ReadNeck This is absolutely a thing. I know folks who have had authors and publishers and publicists respond badly and unprofessionally to bully people into changing reviews etc. on goodreads and Amazon they push for 4 and 5 stars. One of the reasons I love Litsy is that it‘s understood that 3 stars is not a bad review and so-so isn‘t necessarily bad, either. And, it‘s ok here to not like a book the reviews feel real and honest. 4y
Victoriahoperose @Well-ReadNeck I completely agree with you I could not believe that this happened. Granted the book is about this woman‘s life and her great pride in herself is that she is a giant bitch (her words). I just can‘t believe she would be so rude to a complete stranger for no reason. Makes me sad. 4y

Annie1215 Feedback is a gift, I would imagine someone in that field would feel that way too or at least be used to it. If you can‘t stomach public opinion I don‘t know that your work should be in the public 🤷🏼‍♀️ 4y
Sace I completely agree with your thoughts on Litsy! One of the reasons I don't do much on Goodreads is the cases of authors getting upset by bad reviews. I'm in some groups and that's about it. I only post reviews here. And I'll be honest, author behavior on Goodreads colors my thinking about authors here. I hesitate to follow them back. 😔 4y
Victoriahoperose @Annie1215 I agree so much! Part of writing a book is taking criticism. And honestly - the book itself was kinda rough with the way she came across. I get she builds a brand on being a bitch or whatever or standing up to people, but if you aren‘t approachable, why even be in the public eye? I‘m so shocked someone would be so rude because they got a bad review! 4y
Victoriahoperose @Sace that is such a shame. I‘ve never had a bad experience on goodreads until this happened. So shocked at this behavior to my friend. I gave the book 1 star too - I‘m waiting for her to comment to me 😂😂😂 4y

Ugh. I seriously hated this book. There‘s just too much I could go in about. The author just loves to talk about herself and how great she is and I feel like in her opinion everyone in life is a bitch. I wonder if she has any friends at all? Maybe I‘m weak, but this book and advice was over the top for me.
