Stress-proof: The Scientific Solution to Protect Your Brain and Body--and be More Resilient Every Day | Mithu Storoni
5 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
Discover simple, science-based strategies for beating stress at its own game When's the best time to exercise - and how much is too much? Which foods fortify the brain, and which do the opposite? How can we use music, movement, and motivation to boost our rational brain and keep our cool no matter what life throws our way? Short bursts of stress are an inevitable part of modern life. But how much is too much? Research is uncovering the delicate balance that can turn a brief stressful episode into systemic overload, eventually leading to inflammation, anxiety, depression, and other chronic health issues. This practical and groundbreaking guide reveals seven paths to fighting the effects of stress--to strengthen our natural defenses so that our minds remain sharp, and our bodies resilient, no matter what life throws at us. Each chapter examines a common stress agent--including inflammation, an out-of-sync body clock, cortisol levels, and emotional triggers--and presents simple ways to minimize its harmful effects with changes in diet, exercise, and other daily habits--including surprising hacks involving music, eye movements, body temperature, and more. Translating cutting-edge scientific findings into clear and simple advice, Stress-Proof is the ultimate user's guide for body, mind and well-being.

How many others have this issue?
For me it stresses me out because I haven't even read a big chunk of the books in my library let alone books that I don't even own yet.
What about you guys? 😃

ShyBookOwl It's the only thing that doesn't stress me out! When my anxiety ramps up, I think, at least there are a million books I can disappear into right now 😁 6y
litenthusiast Yes! 🙋‍♀️ 6y
rretzler Absolutely - I told my husband the other day that I wished there could be a publishing moratorium so I could get caught up🤣🤣🤣 6y
MoonWitch94 💯 percent true! To which my Boyfriend said “Well, better put some money into publishing stocks so at least your book habit has the potential to make you money. One less thing to worry about.” 🤣🤣 6y
wanderinglynn I find it exciting because I know there will always be another book to read. But at times, it does make me sad that there are loads of books I will never get to read because life is too short. 6y
diovival @wanderinglynn I feel the same way! I'll never run out of books, but also I'll never read all the books. 6y
Emilymdxn I feel this so much! I‘m young and read very fast, so I know I‘ll get through a lot of books, but I‘ll never get around to everyone and I feel like there‘s so much more to learn and beauty to appreciate then I‘ll ever get to 6y
TheSpineView Totally agree! I have over 1K I own that I have not read and every year I buy more than I read even though I read around 100 books a year. 6y
Eggs Yes!!! It‘s FOMO for books!! 6y
Bookgirl Yep. Just last night I was looking at two of my TBR shelves and thinking I should just donate some of them because I‘m not all that excited about them but if they‘re sitting on my shelves I feel I must read them! 6y
BooknerdsLife Oh so relatable!!! Sometimes I get so stressed out because of it too! 😩😭😭😭 6y
