Jay's Journal
Jay's Journal | Anonymous
Jay was a sweet, bright high school student who cared about his grades and his friends. He had ambitions. He was happy. And he thought he could handle anything. He was wrong. When Jay falls in with a crowd that's dabbling in drugs and the occult, he finds himself in over his head and doing things he never thought possible. Fascinated by the dark arts and in love with a dangerous girl, Jay falls deeper and deeper into a life he no longer recognizes...and sees no way out.

These books are supposedly based on real journals from teens.. This one deals with a bit of witchcraft and that in itself made it too much for me..

TheBookstorePodcast I read Go Ask Alice as a teen (also by "Anonymous"). I seem to remember there being a part where it notes that a specific diary entry was written on a paper bag or something and found on a park bench. That was a little more of a stretch than I was willing to believe. ? 7y
booksensation @TheBookstorePodcast lol I agree! I read that one as well and felt the same way.. I think they add certain details to make it seem more interesting but it backfires a little 😆 7y

So, I haven't read this. I read Go Ask Alice as a teenager KNOWING it was a true story & being shook.
Then, I learned it & the pictured book were written by a therapist named Beatrice Sparks & felt betrayed. She claimed to have FOUND these stories & the lie just felt slimey.

night_shift I don't know why I even have this book still 😒 7y
ReadingRover I thought Go Ask Alice was true also. The betrayal stung 🐝when I was told that it wasn't. 7y
night_shift @ReadingRover yeah, like.. not sure why she felt the need to lie about it? Maybe the sales would've been crap if not for the anonymous bit .. idk, just 😒 7y

I absolutely despised "Go Ask Alice" so, of course, when I spotted the companion book at the thrift store I had to buy it. Sounds exactly the freaking same. I am expecting much pain.

wellreadredhead I HATE these! I'm so glad some else feels the same way. I couldn't even finish Jay's Journal it was so terrible. 8y

This one was absolutely my least favourite, still okay I guess…Just not as good as the others. I really didn‘t like the whole Occult thing, it was a little scary, and I don't think it was a REALLY good book like the others.. I just didn't really get it to be honest..

Pickpick

Love anonymous. These diary like books are eye opening and super sad but they make you think about things.
