As with any graphic novel adaptation, this is a very brief read in comparison to the original novel. It gives no true feeling of the breadth and depth of this classic novel. Yet, I think it does express Ahab‘s obsession with the white whale very well. The text in the image is quoted from the Foreword. I appreciate what it has to say about the structure of the novel being comparable to a sea voyage.

I‘ve never read the novel Moby Dick, but thanks to this brilliant graphic novel adaptation, nominated for an Eisner Award, I just might now. Chaboute shows, through black and white drawings and text, Capt. I‘ve started Moby Dick a few times and it just didn‘t take, but my son recently read this graphic novel and felt I needed to as well.

It was interesting, and nice to know a little more about this classic that I‘ve otherwise been bored to distraction by. Maybe I should get the graphic novel of other classics I haven‘t read 😬😂.

This graphic novel has some beautiful one sentence pages throughout the story, and I've decided I'm going to share them all. I will mark them all as ☠️ Contains Spoilers, but they are just so gorgeous I simply can't pass up sharing them. Uh oh! Look where I found myself again 🙈🙈🙈🙈 I left super early this morning, so that I can spend some time at the library before my shift starts at 2pm. I've got 2.5 hours to read my little heart out. ❤️️
