The Nerdy Dozen
The Nerdy Dozen | Jeff Miller

When Neil Andertol and a motley crew of video-gaming whizzes accidentally download top-secret training software and are recruited by the military to restore a botched aircraft mission, they're no longer playing for points—they're playing to save the world! Part action movie, part slapstick comedy, debut author Jeff Miller's The Nerdy Dozen is a madcap adventure for the middle grade set.

OMG, as a Book Reviewer, I run into this issue all the time 😩
What about you guys?

#BookNerdProblems

Beckys_Books I have a hard time bailing on a book, but I'm getting better. 6y
ptkpepe98 As my Mount TBR grows, I find it easier to bail, but still not too often.😬 6y
Melissa_J I feel no guilt over bailing, ever. Just explain your reasons why the book didn‘t work for you. I always read lower rated book reviews. I actually find them to be more useful than glowing reviews. 6y

CouronneDhiver I don‘t mind bailing ... onward and upward! I would feel differently if I were paid/compensated for the reviews. 6y
Cityofamber I have no issues with this. However I won‘t give a starred rating on goodreads/ other sites if I DNF because that doesn‘t seem fair. ;) 6y
Arcana I try to give the book a chance to get better, but when it doesn‘t, I bail without guilt. There are too many books on my TBR to waste time on a story that isn‘t working for me. (edited) 6y
Ruthiella I‘m with @Beckys_Books I am slowly getting better about allowing myself to DNF but I have to fight the sense of obligation to finish! 6y
ComradeMao omg totally! 6y
SandyW My husband freed me of my need to finish a book I don't like. If I'm ambivalent, I tend to start skimming. @Cityofamber If the book is so bad that I drop it, I give it one star... Reviews are based on personal taste after all. If I drop it because I don't have the time/energy to give the story, I usually don't review it on GR, I would write a blurb about it here though. 6y
NeeSwee Yes!! If it‘s really bad, I try to read in sections (like 50 pages a day) and then reward myself with a book of my own choosing!! 🤓 6y
epsitawithane Exactly.. i can't help it.. it feels like I'm doing it some injustice. 6y
Shvonne I used to try and finish them but now I give up after 50 pages. 6y
Billbrarian It just happened to me with a Netgalley pick today. I just couldn‘t take anymore and had to DNF. 6y
CarolynM If it's for book group I will try to stick it out, otherwise if I get to page 100 and I'm wondering why I'm reading it I happily bail. 6y
tracey38 I'm not a reviewer but don't worry anymore about bailing on a book I don't like. Too many good books out there! But I can see how someone who reviews books would have a really tough time. 6y

Pickpick

Super cute middle grade novel I read with my 9 year old! About high level gamer kids who get to fly real fighter jets in the army bc of their video game skills. Cute storyline with unexpected twists, humor, and friendship. My little gamer really enjoyed the story!
