4 posts | 4 read | 5 to read
Join New York Times bestselling author Carla Neggers with the first book in her fan—favorite Swift River Valley series A wave of hope carries Olivia Frost back to her small New England hometown nestled in the beautiful Swift River Valley. She’s transforming a historic home into an idyllic getaway—picturesque and perfect, if only the absentee owner will fix up the eyesore next door… Dylan McCaffrey’s ramshackle house is an inheritance he never counted on. It also holds the key to a generations-old lost treasure he can’t resist any more than he can resist his new neighbor. Against this breathtaking landscape, Dylan and Olivia pursue long-buried secrets and discover a mystery wrapped in a love story…past and present.

A nice series-starter: mystery-lite and romance-lite. Rather than focus on just one couple, there is ample page time developing multiple relationships, mostly family. The mystery is a major part of this story. I didn‘t expect it to be the main thing here but I liked that surprise. No angst or big drama. This is not my top favorite, but very easy reading.

I added the audio via Audible Escape so I could listen while I‘m packing my house for a move.

Lauren_reading I have really liked her books and haven‘t read any in forever 5y
intothehallofbooks @LaurenReads This is my first one of her books!! I added the audio from Audible Escape-I don‘t know if you know about that? 5y
intothehallofbooks @LaurenReads It was so low-key and enjoyable that I may just keep going!! 5y

I enjoyed this. More a romance with a historical mystery, no murder. @TiaQueso this kept reminding me of Book you kids red about the lost cabins by the lost lake.

TiaQueso I‘ll add it then :) I don‘t read much romance anymore because I just pick holes in it, but I‘ll put it on a read list. 7y
Mshookquilts Me, too! But it was a fun light weight listen. 7y
Mshookquilts You can get it from Hoopla 7y

TiaQueso @Mshookquilts ... what is Hoopla? 7y
Mshookquilts @TiaQueso Hoopla s another online/app audiobooks source. Some libraries use it. I think you can even sign up as an individual, but I don‘t know what the terms are for them. Overdrive is the most common one used by libraries. Santa Barbara County now uses both. 7y
TiaQueso Ours uses overdrive but I can‘t figure it oht 7y
Mshookquilts Heading to work, but I can walk you through it later @TiaQueso 7y
FeatherV @TiaQueso I can help you with overdrive :) that‘s what my library uses 7y
TiaQueso @Mshookquilts @FeatherV I‘ve read through all the instructions. Every time I try to log in it just re routes me to sign in again. I need to ask when I‘m in the library, but both of you know how hard that is with kids. I reserve my books and just pick them up at checkout so i can monitor my minions while I‘m there 7y
FeatherV Haha I do the same 7y

This was my first time reading something by Carla Neggers and it wasn‘t bad. The story was entertaining and had some mystery. Nothing like mysteries I normally read, this was more of a side plot. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
