The serendipity of baseball and aging engulfs this short narrative about an estranged father and son that reads like a Vin Scully anecdote between pitches of an at bat. Grisham‘s story won‘t change your life, but - like a good ball game - makes for a nice couple of hours.

Never did I think I would get enraptured in a story surrounded by baseball.

Although I understand only the barebones of baseball, I was able to follow along with the storyline no problem. Grisham writes with such passion and draws such a beautiful picture that you almost feel as though you are in the bleachers watching every play!

This has been on my TBR for a bit and thought it would be fun to read it on baseball‘s opening day. I didn‘t expect to feel so emotional about it. Geez, it‘s heartbreaking when you desperately want your father to be your hero, and instead he is the opposite. Tie that in with baseball and I‘m not cryin‘, you‘re cryin! ...Oh yeah, and I‘ll always be Royal!!

I don‘t know anything about baseball (and I have no interest in learning about it), but I still enjoyed this book. Yes, it is about baseball, but its also about a young boy searching for a hero, a difficult relationship between a father and son, and forgiveness.

I happened upon this one while browsing for an audiobook to listen to on my walks. It piqued my interest 1) it's about baseball (i like baseball) and 2) it's not Grisham's normal genre. A story about forgiveness, getting the chance to make things right and baseball. ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

Embarking on some John Grisham novels I didn't know existed until I heard him speak at an event earlier this week. I read all his early legal thrillers but didn't realize he wrote about sports, too.

So I had to read this for a bookclub. I'm not a fan of Grisham or that genre type and I'm definitely not a fan of baseball. But having said that this wasn't too bad. It's not one of his typical books. It's more about the relationship between a father and son. I do admit to skimming the paragraphs about baseball. 😉

#audiopuzzling ✅both book and puzzle have been completed, but hubby & son really get credit for puzzle skills! This was a decent audio choice: under 5 hours, pleasant narrator, not overly sentimental but not too much technicality with baseball stuff either. A story about fathers and sons and finding forgiveness/ acceptance/ understanding #LitsyAtoZ #LetterC ✅ Not a wow, but more than Meh ⚾️⚾️⚾️

Here's how we party at my house... #audiopuzzling to this Grisham baseball novel. It was a compromise with my hubby and son 😊What's making this puzzle extra challenging is the fact that we have no visual, we lost the box & only had the sealed bag of puzzle pieces 😬😜😩

since it's playoff season decided to read a baseball related book. it's ok so far but it has it's flaws, but I'll hold off judgement until I've finished!
