The Collected Poems of Robert Frost
The Collected Poems of Robert Frost | Robert Frost
3 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Likely one of the most well-known poets in American literary history, Robert Frost, born in California, lived much of his life in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, thus, his most popular poetry depicted subtle New England charm. Frosts style was largely free verse, though he did find a fair amount of structure in poetry could often be inspiring. Forever searching for 'the sound of sense,' Robert Frost's lyrical poetry is eloquent, precise, and robust. The Collected Poems of Robert Frost, includes the inspiring poetry of Frost's first three collections, including his earliest major poems "The Road Not Taken" and "Mending Wall" making this edition one you shouldn't miss!

A man turning grass in a freshly mown field thinks of himself and the mower as each doing his solitary job, but sees something that gives him a glimpse into the thoughts of the earlier worker, and prompts this beautiful closing line.

"The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued."
-- Robert Frost

Trying to buy my way out of this book slump my eyes have got me into, since I stopped reading before my new glasses I just can't seem to pick back up. I've only read two books so far this month! Two!! I've tried mood reading, I've tried One Chapter Choice, I've tried rereading favourites and I've tried audiobooks. What else is there to break slumps? I need your advice Littens, what other method should I try to break my bookbrain out of its apathy?

Elisa Oh gosh, that sounds rough! So what started the trouble exactly? You said something about new glasses. When nothing works, I find that rooting around the trigger or the source helps 🙂 7y
laurieluna When I get into a slump and just can't face whole books I read short stories. I have a few short story collections and I usually just pick one at random. It doesn't feel as big of a commitment as a whole book so it relaxes me, but the actually process of reading something helps. 7y
Jas16 I always reread an old favorite. 7y
Dogearedcopy Sounds counterintuitive, but I walk away from reading! The more I try to force it (reading,) the more of a block I seem to have, so I allow myself to indulge in movies, hiking, whatever. It's like my brain needs to re-set or something. 7y
Dragon I read trashy romances or Agatha Christie‘s. Hope your slump ends soon! 📚🐉 7y
