Dawn of the Dreadfuls (Turtleback School & Library) | Steve Hockensmith

Journey Back to Regency England-Land of the Undead! Readers will witness the birth of a heroine in Dawn of the Dreadfuls a thrilling prequel set four years before the horrific events of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. As our story opens, the Bennet sisters are enjoying a peaceful life in the English country side. They idle away the days reading, gardening, and daydreaming about future husbands until a funeral at the local parish goes strangely and horribly awry. Suddenly corpses are springing from the soft earth and only one family can stop them. As the bodies pile up, we watch Elizabeth Bennet evolve from a naive young teenager into a savage slayer of the undead. Along the way, two men vie for her affections: Master Hawksworth is a powerful warrior who trains her to kill, while thoughtful Dr. Keckilpenny seeks to conquer the walking dead using science instead of strength. Will either man win the prize of Elizabeth's heart? Or will their hearts be feasted upon by hordes of marauding zombies? Complete with romance, action, comedy, and an army of shambling corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls will have Jane Austen rolling in her grave and just might inspire her to crawl out of it!

This book had non of the other character except the Bennet Family. But I like the way the author developed the characters. I as a little skeptical at first about his keeping them pure gentle ladies but in the end it did work out. Only one error that that clashes with Pride Prejudice and Zombie but it is good, because this is how you know if everyone is paying attention. A good read.

I am totally enjoying the dialog in this book. Mr. Bennet has a greater voice and unfortunately so does Mrs. Bennet. Oh well, I guess you have to take the good with the bad. 😃

There are two characters that I can do without in any Pride and Prejudice book it is Mrs. Bennett and Wickham. Instead of finding that authors do less with them some times I get too much. Is there an adaptation that limit these two character?

My first book for October. This adaptation is going back. This is pre Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, four years earlier. I have six adaptation on my desk and is hoping to get through then all this month. Wish me luck.

My last read of 2019 is the prequel to the Regency romance/zombie mash up Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I wasn‘t sure what to expect but it was strangely entertaining. 3⭐️

I enjoyed the plot of this book, but it didnt feel very much like Pride and Prejudice. The characters seemed rather... Not themselves, if that makes sense. Ill give the original a try and see if its any truer to the original

#Septembowie Day 29: This is the second of three parts of the #ScaryMonstersandSuperCreeps series. Jane Austen must be turning over in her grave right about now.
