Chasing Fireflies
Chasing Fireflies: A Novel of Discovery | Charles Martin
15 posts | 15 read | 12 to read
They have one summer to find what was lost long ago. "Never settle for less than the truth," she told him. But when you don't even know your real name, the truth gets a little complicated. It can nestle so close to home it's hard to see. It can even flourish inside a lie. And as Chase Walker discovered, learning the truth about who you are can be as elusiveand as magicalas chasing fireflies on a summer night. A haunting story about fishing, baseball, home cooking, and other matters of life and death.

The expression on his face looks as if I am reading to him (I am not) and that he understands every word and that he would say something like “Really? And then what happened”😎😍

GondorGirl Maybe he's trying to tell you that you SHOULD read to him! 7y
GlitterGirl @GondorGirl that is a good point!!!!!!😎😎😎😎 7y

What is better than finishing a book. Starting a new one, of course. I love when you take off the dust jacket and the book itself is beautiful. I hope the picture shows off the beautiful texture of the book itself.

EllieDottie I love this book! 7y
LisaJo @EllieDottie That is high praise. Looking forward to getting into it today. 7y

I almost bailed on this book. 25 pages in, I was overwhelmed by cars and sports and what seemed to be a book geared toward men. 25% in, I was completely immersed in the story. A great story full of emotion, growth, and a bit of mystery.

Has anyone read this? Does it become a masterpiece? It has great reviews, but all the car details are getting wearisome. Not loving the guy-centric writing, either. For once, I'm putting a book down for some sleep. Hell's probably pretty cold tonight. 😕

EllieDottie I liked it! But I read it about 10 years ago. I remember it making me cry! I think it continues to be kinda guy centric though... It's ultimately about fathers... If I remember it right. But on the other hand I'm a huge fan of bailing on books I'm not feeling at the time!! 8y
BookDragonNotWorm @EllieDottie Thanks! 😊 As long as I know it gets good, I'll stick it out. 8y
