so-soThe importance of education in this novel is very importanythe family values education much differently Rex walls seems to want to teach them perseverance and to be tough, this can be seen from when Rex walls teaches Jeanette to swim from throwing her into the water and making her figure it out on her own.
Jeanette walls is the protagonist but also a round character she changes throughout and struggles with actual challenges.
