What a searing, gut punch of a memoir. I am shocked its GR rating is fairly low. I thought this was such a well written, contemplative look at the suicide of the author‘s sister at age 21. As a poet, Bialosky included a lot of poetry and literary excerpts that aided her in the examination of her sister‘s demise. The human condition is expertly navigated, to the point that we can all relate to this story.
I‘ve always been curious about #bookspinbingo so I thought I‘d give it a whirl in December. I always struggle with what to read next so maybe this will help? 🤷🏼♀️

Finished in the car. This reads like a letter to her younger sister, Kim, as she explores her sister‘s “unfinished life”. She mines her sister‘s letters, poetry, & diaries, adds information from their family history, from her memories, from literature such as Melville, Plath, Woolf, & nonfiction of psychologists, psychiatrists. She creates a picture of her sister‘s inner life and suicide, her fragilities & strength. Beautifully written. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stunned.
