Great book if you are a Bruce Dickinson fan, Maiden fan or just a fan of extremely interesting people. I love Bruce more since reading this. He seems like he would make the best dinner guest ever.

Professional advice given to Bruce after almost crash landing:
"Switch the aircraft off. Wait 15 minutes, then switch it back on again."
"...the effect on the mind was like dragging a rake across a disordered piece of sand or gravel. The desert seemed to soothe and calm the tempestuous mind that always bounced off the inside of my cranium. It was not inspiration; it was exhalation and nothingness."
"The king's face looks out in horror as he realizes what he is becoming: he is transforming slowly into a beast.
That painting was my reflection."
"Survivors came out and did okay, not brilliantly, but the tour and the press were fantastic."
"They had learnt half of the album Argus by Wishbone Ash, plus 'All Right Now' by Free and the inevitable 'Smoke on the Water'."
Pilot, brewer, fencer, author and rock god. I have loved this man for many years. I can't wait to get into this book.

This self-narrated audiobook was excellent. Bruce‘s life has been an interesting one. Best known as the lead singer of Iron Maiden (w/ great operatic voice), he is also known as a commercial pilot, author, historian, public speaker, competitive fencer, business owner, and entrepreneur. He covers all of these, as well as some interesting behind-the-scenes Maiden subject matter. When on tour, he pilots the jet Maiden flies around the world in.
Failed attempt to troll the religious right during the satanic panic days of the mid 1980s.
The reason Bruce wrote. I‘m listening to this on audio but went to B&N over lunch to look at the pictures in the paper version.
During the Piece of Mind tour Bruce spent his days at fencing clubs in the city he happened to be in. During the Somewhere In Time tour he holed up in his hotel room and wrote a book on the free stationary! Rock and roll lifestyle.
Dickinson is a pretty good story teller. This explains where some of their deep and interesting songs come from.
Bruce is best known as the lead singer for Iron Maiden but is also a commercial pilot, entrepreneur, business owner, and wears a number of other hats. When Iron Maiden is on tour, he flies the band around the world in their modified airliner. My current audiobook.
Between a pick and a so-so for me. He explains in the epilogue that he left out any mention of wives, children, and relationships intentionally. This dearth, however, makes for a superficial book with little in-depth info. I wanted more “VH1: Behind the Music” type stuff. Still, if you‘re a fan, check it out. He‘s still an admirable man with an interesting life
Some of the top 5 books Im looking forward to reading in 2018! Thanks for the tag, @jdtchicago This was really hard to narrow down. Quite an eclectic mix, no? 😂 #5in2018 Tagging @Reviewsbylola @HotMessJess @Bibliotaph_and_tsundoku @Tamra @batsy @MaleficentBookDragon @inwhichHeikereadsharder @tricours @mauveandrosysky
4/5⭐️ one of the best autobiographies I‘ve read! It was really entertaining and written in a way that made me not want to put it down!
Started this one yesterday and am loving it so far, the way it‘s written is really enertaining!
I've been an Iron Maiden fan for ages now. Bruce Dickinson is one of the all time great heavy metal front men. I totally geeked out when I found a signed copy of his autobiography! I know what tunes will be on my playlist at work tomorrow!🎸🎤
”Nothing in childhood is ever wasted, except occasionally parents.” Bruce is my fave singer, and this book is amazing. The pic is from Iron Maiden‘s gig in Helsinki maybe 5 years ago.
Picked this up this week at @WORDBookstores because OMG IT‘S SIGNED and I knew that if I passed it up, @colindickey and @scottsigler would somehow know and be disappointed in me for the rest of my days. 🎸 ☠️🤘🏻
I listened to this because my menfolk are big Iron Maiden fans. Pleasantly surprised to discover Bruce Dickinson is one cool dude. He focuses on music, flying, and fencing in this autobiography. He is also a big reader. I liked him so much I'll forgive him his dislike of Jane Austen. Last Chapter is entitled F**k Cancer. If it doesn't move you, you've got no compassion in your soul. I can now truly say with my menfolk 'Up The Irons'.
So difficult to choose!

Not great pictures, but I got my book signed by Bruce Dickinson today! 😍
We queued for like an hour and a half in the cold, for around 6 seconds with Bruce, but it was totally worth it! It has my name! 😱☺️😃
