Pickpick

Originally called The Wordsmith, this dystopian novel is billed as a middle school read. It's a little The Giver meets 1984 with a little Brave New World thrown in. I found it much more sophisticated than The Giver and would recommend it for high school readers as well as adults. Set in the future when Global Warming has destroyed most of society, it explores the idea of curbing language with A lList of 500 words to prohibit free thinking. 😀😀😀

alanacristin Wow! 😍 I'll have to track this one down. Would it be a challenging middle grade read, do you think? I'm working on books to recommend for that age group. Cheers! 7y
Alfoster @alanacristin Would be great for them! It discusses why words/language is so important and to suppress it would mean the end of culture, hope, and creative thinking! So discussion-worthy! Let me know what you/they think!😍😍😍 7y
alanacristin Perfect ✨ Sounds like a thought provoking read 😃 Thanks for recommending it! 7y
