BY CHANCE OR PROVIDENCE collects BECKY CLOONAN's award-winning trilogy: WOLVES, THE MIRE, and DEMETER, with lush colors by LEE LOUGHRIDGE and a sketchbook/illustration section. These stories cast a spell of hypnotic melancholy, weaving their way through medieval landscapes of ancient curses and terrible truths that will haunt you long after you've set them down.

This week‘s #bookreport is mostly comics and nonfiction essays, not too shabby. Audiobooks from the library are really helping me tackle my tbr piles (cause I can #audiowork much easier these days). I think the only book I felt so-so about this week was the sole fiction novel: babysitters coven. It was just all right. Will not read more of the series tho.

We celebrated the New Year and 2nd Christmas with friends last night. These titles snuck in as my last book acquisitions of 2018. Having great friends who know your taste in books is such a blessing! Here's to a happy, healthy 2019 with lots of 5 star reads!

Pickpick

🥀A comic collection of 3 loosely connected tales.
🥀The epitome of Gothic storytelling.
🥀Mysterious & sublimely horrific undertones beneath a veil of melancholy w/noir aesthetic.
🥀Dark, Romantic atmosphere that‘s chilling yet enchanting.
🥀Soft narratives leave plenty of room for individual interpretation of each tale told.
🥀Ambiguous yet haunting.
🥀Stunning digitally-drawn artwork that works as the prominent feature of the collection.
🥀4/5

Pickpick

I was a little torn about making this a pick. It contains three stories Wolves, The Mire, and Demeter. The third story was excellent but I felt the first two could have used more development. I really enjoyed the illustration style but 1/3 of this medieval graphic novel is just concept sketches and illustrations. This might be a better one to check out from the library.
