⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
EVERYONE needs to read this book.
Sara did an amazing job describing life in the 90s (for a bit of nostalgia) and bringing to light the immigration issue in this country.
Thank you Sara for this book.

Excellent book! I feel this should be in high school libraries everywhere. 💚💜💛
I learned some things about #Iran that I didn't know and I learned a lot more about the immigration process in the US.
It was fun and nostalgic for me since I was also a teen in the 90s and Sara Saedi has many pop culture references to that time period.
Finished this one this morning. Every time I read a book like this, I realize how little I really know about the immigration process. I really want to get my students to check this one out.
Read this as a suggestion from Book Riot‘s “Read Harder” challenge and am so, so happy I did. What a beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking book.
This was a really great memoir. I used to work for a USCIS call center (just info) and I know how hard it all is, but it's interesting to see from someone's pov on the process.
#MarchIntoThe70s #ImmigrantSong This is a great YA book about the experiences of Saedi growing up as an immigrant in this country. @Lizpixie @Cinfhen
This book should be taught in schools. Equal parts edifying to the immigrant situation in the US and a sometimes painfully honest portrayal of adolescents that I think anyone whose been there can relate to. This book was very effecting to me and hit close to home on some subjects or high importance in my own life.
You know you've been on Litsy too much when you're reading a book on your phone and try to find the ❤ button to like the artwork in the book. 🤣🤣🤣
I read this in one day. It was that good! I enjoyed so many things about this book- the narrative, the historical information, and the cultural background knowledge included in her story. I will definitely be adding this book to my classroom library! #ya #nonfiction #librarylove #booklove #englishteacher #teachersoflitsy
I was only going to read a little of this on the patio before getting in the pool, but I can't stop reading this! I am absolutely enjoying the narrative, while also learning a little bit of historical information.
This book was good, but I didn‘t LOVE IT love it. I also recognize that I‘m not the target audience, being neither an immigrant or a young adult. I learned some things and I‘m glad I read it, but it was faaaar from being the most compelling memoir I‘ve read recently.
Excellent read! 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and highly recommend!
What are you guys reading these days?! I recently got a couple of books including this one from PRH International. Are any of them on your list?
Reading during her dance lessons 👯♀️
Book 6 of 2018 is a memoir about growing up as an undocumented immigrant in America. I loved reading snippets of Sara's diary and her experiences as a teen in the 90s. This book covered being embarrassed by your parents, dealing with acne, and the fear of being deported. Saedi has a great writing voice and I loved reading her story.
