pickI fell in love with the author's writing from the first page. The story takes place in the area of French West Africa now known as Senegal and Mali. The book is about the strike of the railway workers on the Dakar-Niger line. "God's bits of wood refers to human beings, a powerful reference throughout the book. I really liked the book & learned quite a bit too. #Reading1001 #ReadingtheWorld #1001books
