When Churchill Slaughtered Sheep and Stalin Robbed a Bank
When Churchill Slaughtered Sheep and Stalin Robbed a Bank: History's Unknown Chapters | Giles Milton
3 posts | 1 read | 10 to read
More addictive and mind-blowing true tales from history, told by Giles Miltonone of todays most entertaining and accessible yet always intelligent and illuminating historians In When Churchill Slaughtered Sheep and Stalin Robbed a Bank, the second installment in his outrageously entertaining series, Historys Unknown Chapters, Giles Milton shows his customary historical flair as he delves into the little-known stories from history, like when Stalin was actually assassinated with poison by one of his inner circle; the Russian scientist, dubbed the Red Frankenstein, who attempted to produce a human-ape hybrid through ethically dubious means; the family who survived thirty-eight days at sea with almost no water or supplies after their ship was destroyed by a killer whale; or the plot that served as a template for 9/11 in which four Algerian terrorists attempted to hijack a plane and fly it into the Eiffel Tower.

Little known facts from different periods in history, but most of them are related to the WW II. Some of them are more on the trivia side, even funny, and some of them are really horrifying. Very readable collection, recommend to the lovers of oddities from history.

What a glorious way to start the new working day❣️This pile is everything I need - four, yes four books (I applied for two, but I don‘t complain at all😚), chocolate, teas in a very fancy packaging, abundance of cards with quotes (I‘ll have to change the wall decoration, again 😘), each book with very neat handwritten library index card and fabulous bookmark. The selected books are exactly what I would choose for myself, and each of them is ...👇

Simona ... from the field near and dear to me❣️ Leah, thank you for your generosity, effort and time 😘😘😘 as well as to you Heike Marie for great idea 😘😘😘 #2018nonfictionbookexchange #2018nfbe AND JUST LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL WRAPPING PAPER ♥️ 7y
