This article talks about the recent trend of celebrities flooding the children book market with more or less well-written books and whether this takes away space from real authors who depend on the money.

The author also mentions the terrible messaging in books by #DavidWalliam ^s.

A celebration of Diversity ❤️🧡💛🤎💚💙🖤🤍💜

I think the #chihuahua‘s enjoy the Sunday morning reading as much as we do! My daughter and I had to finish this, I think this may even be my favourite DW so far. Such a heart warming , funny , feel good book.

“You know the irony, Dennis?” Proclaimed Raj.”Those people who are so quick to judge,be they teachers or politicians or religious leaders or whatever, are normally up to far worse themselves!”

This is a book that every school library should have. My opinion. But it's such a great story about being different, that surely will help many kids overcoming their fear. Dennis has to suffer a lot just because he likes wearing dresses - what's so wrong about that?!

Be who you are and feel comfortable with it, that's what David Walliams is telling his readers. An important message, if you ask me.

To the pupil I made a promise to, you were right! This book was lighthearted, fun and I enjoyed it!

My colleagues call me crazy for listening to do many pupil suggestions, I end up reading/watching/doing a lot of unusual things (recently watching Dr Who and agreeing to try bizarre food pairings), but it's so worth it and I value that they've thought about me and the relationships built from it.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Definitely! You can learn a lot from kids! It‘s a good thing to be open to new ideas and experiences. I learn a lot from my 10-year-old son! 6y

Confession: I read this around 7 years ago and don't remember many of the specifics. I don't believe this centered around being transgendered, but it is definitely a bit queer. What I do remember is that it was a tender story of loss, acceptance, and finding one's passion with a slightly unbelievable ending. And it's illustrated by Quentin Blake! #boyinthetitle #FeistyFeb

why are girls allowed to wear dresses and boys aren‘t? It doesn‘t make any sense!

Dressing up had made him feel like he didn‘t have to be boring Dennis living his boring life anymore. I can be whoever I want to be! he thought.

Not only was he bigger than everyone else, he had a deeper voice, and was disturbingly hairy for a boy his age.

Today I installed a lamp for night reading and tonight I am taking full advantage! Got to get my Matilda Middle Grade Book Club read finished for tomorrow.

Centique My kids love David Walliams so much. Saw him speak at a writers festival and he was so funny and in tune with kids. Hope lots of American kids get to know his work too 😍 8y
quirkyreader I loved him in Little Britain and Mr. Stink. 8y

Read this one outside on a beautiful afternoon. David Walliams is so funny, and I really like his writing style. Having Quentin Blake as an illustrator doesn't hurt! Have you read this?
