This wasn‘t necessarily a memorable read but I enjoyed the simple illustrations and Frakes‘s memoir of growing up isolated on a prison island off the coast of Washington. A strange childhood to say the least.

This follows Frakes‘s childhood experience living on McNeil Island. It introduces a little bit about the shortcomings of the prison system, but focuses mainly on Frakes‘s personal experiences. It was very interesting and I like the art.
Author looks back on her days living on a prison island in Washington state when her parents worked there.
Prison Island is interesting, informative, and entertaining. Frakes tells the story of her childhood on a prison island, and she does it in an engaging way. Definitely recommend.
The setting and childhood backstory of Marrow Island reminded me of Colleen Frakes' charming memoir about growing up on a west coast island that was used for a prison.
This is a very quick read, but I enjoyed all the local references.
Something about this never clicked with me. The stories are cute enough and I usually love memoir, but the absence of anything really happening in this book made it hard for me to invest. The art didn't grip me, either. Not a bad book by any means, and a novel perspective, but not for me.
A graphic memoir about growing up on the island that housed the last prison in the U.S. only accessible by sea or air. A+++.
