I will say that it took me quite a while to emotionally invest in Kristy and her family. Some of it seemed a bit rushed, particularly Lance‘s abuse and escalation. I honestly cared the most about Clifton, and his last letter admittedly brought a tear or two to my eyes. Overall, it‘s good but it could‘ve used a bit more detail and even as a fan of ‘sometimes it‘s just like that‘ endings, I wish there had been more closure in Clifton‘s story.

Kristy Tucker is a single mother that works for the department of corrections as a public relations for death row. She soon falls in love with her son's martial arts teacher, and marries him. Soon after her happily ever after turns into hell on earth, and she has to decide how is she going to save herself and her family. Would she commit a crime to do it?
This was emotional and so twisted that it kept me on my toes.

This so far is the best book read this year. Personally, I don‘t think it will make my top 5 . I didn‘t have many books from which to choose because I‘m bogged down in a monster of a doorstop. Did I say doorstop? A Suitable Boy at almost 1400 pages could stop an 18 wheeler! #catsoflitsy

Overall a pick. I wish the character of Lance didn‘t sound like such a stereotype. His character was the weakest link. Otherwise I heavily enjoyed this book. Although not fully reading the description before listening to it, I was surprised at the turn of events after a couple of discs. I liked how events turned out for the characters.
