so-soThis has the classic anthology problem of patchy quality and there were a couple of stories in Part II that I absolutely hated, but in general a decent experience. Most of the stories I liked were in Part I; not sure what that says about me.
I'm not sure how many of these stories are actually noir, but I'm also not sure I actually like noir, and it did get me thinking about genre conventions which is the sort of thing I enjoy for some reason.
My mom gave me this book for Chanukah but I am only now getting to it in my book queue, probably because I'm the worst.
Seriously enjoying this one so far. The short stories by local authors all take place in my home town, so I expected to know the locations (I even lived in one of the apartment buildings) but whoa! some of these characters seem familiar too. This was published in 2009 but much of it sounds like the Portland, Oregon I knew in the 90‘s.
