1 told 2 and 2 told 3, "I'll race you to the top of the apple tree." One hundred and one numbers climb the apple tree in this bright, rollicking, joyous book for young children. As the numerals pile up and bumblebees threaten, what's the number that saves the day? (Hint: It rhymes with "hero.") Read and count and play and laugh to learn the surprising answer.

This poetry book is just so adorable! It‘s a great book for RA to your younger students because it teachers them numbers, as a plus it rhymes! The UDL strategy I chose is 2.3 - supports deciding if text, mathematical into , and symbols. The EL strategy I chose is #16 integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. After reading this book I would have my students practice writing their numbers on a practice sheet! #ucflae3414sp20

Brennap I remember reading this book when I was younger. I know its perfect for teaching younger students about numbers in a fun way! 5y
charlotteclancy Growing up I loved this book! It is very engaging for children because they can catch on to the words in the book. It includes numbers as well to incorporate math! Great read :) 5y
VictoriaG This was one of my FAVORITES to read! This is something that I have seen many teachers use in math lessons! 5y
DrSpalding I wonder if Ryan knows about this book! He did such a lovely job on his storytelling. This would be another great storytelling opportunity but one that enhances number sense. 5y

0 lands on top of the tree, joins with 10. Now 100 you see !

Love this page because 0 wasnt apart of the numbers to begin, but when it works with 10 to become 100 then it's the most important of all the numbers.

Picture book and was written in 2004. This book is definitely a rhyming book. All of the numbers want to climb the apple tree and they so in pairs and in order. When the bumblebees come the numbers need to leave as they once went, now they had to back down starting 99 to 1. 0 stays and joins 10 to make 100. The numbers come back and all the numbers are happy again. Great book to read when teaching early math lessons.

Chicka, Chicka 1.2.3 is a New York‘s Times Best Seller F book written by Bill MartinJr, Michael Sampson and Lois Ehlert. This is not only a great RA but a wonderful S strategy. This is an excellent addition to your classroom library for your young readers! The book is about numbers climbing up an apple tree, but as the numbers pile up and the bees threaten them who will save the day? This a fun read along that students can count, laugh and play.

SierraC Above is a link for a fun activity to do with your class, that also improves the students reading fluency. Students will do a readers theatre and with Chicka, Chicka 1,2,3 and will learn about rhythm. The EL strategy I would use is 14, I would just slow down my speech at a slow but moderate once however still engage the children! 6y
SierraC The UDL strategy I would use is 5.1, the pictures in this book really helps the students follow along so using pictures to help guide the students. (edited) 6y
