Immortal Iron Fist Vol. 2
Immortal Iron Fist Vol. 2: The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven | Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker
4 posts | 5 read
Collects Immortal Iron Fist #8-14 and Annual #1. Once a generation, the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven align on a plane far beyond the ken of mortal men. It is here that these cities send their Immortal Warriors to compete against one another in a combat tournament to end all tournaments, and it is here that Daniel Rand was spirited to in his darkest hour. Generations of mystical war traditions await their chance to prove they have the greatest kung-fu - to the Immortal Iron Fist! Plus: The Book of Iron Fist, written on parchment made from the dragon scales of Shou-Lao the Undying, tells the life stories and kung-fu secrets of every man and woman ever to hold the mantle of the Immortal Iron Fist - except two. One, Danny Rand, the current Iron Fist and the possessor of this most remarkable book. The other was Orson Randall, the Golden Age Iron Fist, and he died as he lived: trying to outrun the Iron Fist legacy. And if Danny hopes to escape a similar fate, he'll have to track down Orson's long-lost story and learn the mysteries within before it's too late.

I really enjoyed this re-read of Immortal Iron Fist. You get some great Iron Fist back story mixed in with the tournament, and a solid Hydra subplot. He was always a B grade Marvel character until this series came out. Fraction and Brubaker at their best here. #comicthon. @xicanti

TieDyeDude Wow, that's a hell of a team! Just finished catching up on Fraction's Sex Criminals. 7y

I'm starting #comicthon off with an intradimensiomal kung fu tournament for the ages! Will the Immortal Iron Fist be victorious, or will the other Immortal weapons be his downfall? I loved this series. Fraction and Brubaker really breathed new life into this character. @xicanti

I really liked the art. The story was a little so-so for me, but quickly barreled into a pick.

TK421 That was one of my favorite Iron Fist stories. I loved Fraction and Brubaker's run with the character. 7y
Sace @TK421 I really enjoyed it. It's part of my husband's project to help me with comics literacy. He had me read Runaways, too. Up next- Hellboy. 😊 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Oh how I do love Hellboy. 7y

Today begins my last full week of summer vacation.
1. 6 days of PD is crazy ridiculous. Can't we just have all of next week too?
2. I'm doing a personal reading marathon sloth-fest.

The book tagged is at the bottom of this stack. I may or may not get to them. I'm sort of a reckless, fickle book-slut (I should change my Litsy handle) so I never know what I'll actually end up reading.

Mariposa_Bookworm Six days of professional development is brutal. My heart goes out to you. 7y
Sace @Mariposa_Bookworm right? With NO breaks after March 2018. Couldn't they have taken three of those days and sprinkled them through out April and May? I guess that made too much sense. 7y
Mariposa_Bookworm @Sace it's like medieval torture. Thankfully, we don't start until the last week of August. Who knows what surprises the week before that will bring. 😳 (edited) 7y

Sace @Mariposa_Bookworm our system likes to roll out the next SOLUTION TO ALL OUR PROBLEMS during PD (usually the last day or two.) So we all end up overwhelmed by info and anxious right before students arrive. Good times. 😑 7y
Mariposa_Bookworm @Sace Does your system have a teacher working conditions survey? We can't have a teacher union in our state but within our district we have the survey. It gives the teachers a louder voice in how stuff like PD and workdays are run. 7y
Sace @Mariposa_Bookworm oh, they ask for input from PD committees from several schools and they ask for our "input" on the calendar. They present us with three calendars and for the 7 years I've been with this system they seem to pick the most illogical one. (Or maybe I'm not that logical.) The state is taking over this school year. That pretty much explains it IMO. 7y
Lmstraubie SIX days of PD as you try to prepare for the new year?!?!? And what kind of support will there be for these initiatives later??? 7y
Sace @Lmstraubie what is this support of which you speak? 😂 7y
Sace @Lmstraubie and most of it is PD for English and Math teachers. I'm an elective teacher (Spanish) and I end up working in my room doing things I could have literally done from home in my pajamas. 😑 7y
Lmstraubie @RestlessFickleBookSlut I really believe administrators should have to periodically go back into the classroom to remember what it's really all about. 7y
Lmstraubie @RestlessFickleBookSlut You're a rebel - wear your pajamas to work!!! 😅😅😅 7y
Sace @Lmstraubie don't think I haven't thought about it! 7y
