This seemed like lighter reading at first, but there were multiple points of view told through the book. Many of them were adults, so it didn't feel like YA, like I originally expected.

This was not quite the book I thought I was getting into. I thought I was getting some quick, fluffy read, and it wasn‘t that at all. It was thought-provoking and tear-inducing. It‘s sobering to be confronted with the weight of our choices and how the consequences ripple out to affect others. A solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. I‘ll be looking for more from Whalen.
This puts me at a little over 9.5 hours for #24B42019! I‘ve passed my Thanksgiving time!
With the amount I‘ve been reading recently I figured Kindle Unlimited would come in handy! Starting off with this one!!
I enjoyed seeing the different viewpoints from each character and flowed very nicely from character to character.
This is a pick. Kind of. It kept me turning the pages and was exactly what I needed to get out of a reading slump. The book also makes you think about grief, tragedy, redemption, and bravery. But, there were quite a few plot holes, the characters felt a little too flat/stereotypical. And the ending was much too tidy. But, yes to challenging the hero worship of football in the south.
Sorry I‘ve been absent from Litsy this week. I had forgotten how much work new puppies are 😊 Last weekend I finished New World Rising for #lmpbc (and will get it in the mail soon @abbsinwonderland ). Since then, I started and put down several books until I landed on the tagged book. Its short chapters make it perfect for reading during puppy naps.
I bought this book based only on the cover and blurb (usually, I buy on recommendations). It was entertaining but nothing earth-shattering.

What really happened that night after the football game when there was a 2-car collision and three cheerleaders died?
So good
This book takes place in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The town of Worthy is celebrating a huge football win and the town is on top of the world. The next morning the town wakes up to the news that three cheerleaders where killed over night in a car accident. This book at times was heartbreaking as we follow four women in the town and see how this accident has shaped all their lives!
Thursday night cuddles with my girl! So happy that tomorrow is Friday! Feels like it has been such a long week! 📚😺📚😺
A bit slow going at first but worth the read. It was incredibly sad.
My plans for relaxing today didn‘t work out but it‘s quiet now so time for a little pampering and then climbing into bed with the tagged book.
Post-hike evening plans. Cookies and books. Also drinking Smith Tea Silent Night blend: peppermint, licorice, cinnamon, and ginger. A little sweet, a little spicy, a whole lotta yum.
Set in the small town of Worthy, Georgia, where everyone knows everyone else's business and no one's secrets are safe. A tragic car accident leaves 3 high school cheerleaders dead and their families heart broken but what really happened that night and who's going to take the blame? #currentread
I saw this book being advertised on GoodReads and decided to give it a shot. It sounded very good and my local library had a copy! It was certainly worth the read! At times, the book was utterly heartbreaking. This novel shows that we don‘t always know our neighbors as well as we think. Everyone can be hiding secrets and we may never know until tragedy strikes. Absolutely beautiful!
I love how I‘ve lived in the Midwest for 98 percent of my life and somehow I‘m still shocked when it gets cold every year ☃️
I live in Valdosta, GA which has one of the winningest football teams in the nation and where high school football is god. Our games have been televised on ESPN, the entire town tailgates after lunch in Friday, and we have stadiums full of people in the 10's of thousands on Friday night. There have many books written about our football town and program, so I can't wait to dive into this 🏈🏈
I'm so glad to be listening to this right now. I'm developing a bit of a cold and good fiction narrated by Joshilyn Jackson is sure to take my mind of the growing misery in my head. This book and this cold is going to hit hard.
I loved this book! Highly recommend for fans of Friday Night Lights and stories of small towns in wakes of tragedies.
This book was really engaging. A tragic accident affects four families and everybody In the town has an opinion. Was it just an accident or can someone be held accountable. This book is really full with the accident and smaller but just as important sub plots affecting a teacher and also the football team. Life isn't a certainty and what people do or say affects others. Brilliant book
Look what else came in this week! This one was a win from an Instagram giveaway on the She Reads Book Club page. Thank you She Reads and author Marybeth Mayhew Whalen!
