Monster In The Closet (The Baltimore Series Book 5)
Monster In The Closet (The Baltimore Series Book 5) | Karen Rose
19 posts | 13 read | 9 to read
The Sunday Times bestselling author of Every Dark Corner returns with an exclusive novel celebrating ten years of Karen Rose's thrillers in the UK. MONSTER IN THE CLOSET reunites readers with characters from Karen Rose's bestselling Baltimore series. A mother is dead, and now her killer hunts the child that witnessed the brutal crime... Private Investigator Clay Maynard locates missing children for clients, but has nearly given up hope of finding his own daughter, cruelly stolen from him by his ex-wife twenty-three years ago. Equine therapist Taylor Dawson has chosen to intern at Daphne Montgomery-Carter's stables so that she can observe the program's security director - her father, Clay Maynard. Trying to reconcile the wonderful man she's getting to know with the monster her mother always described, Taylor never expects to become the target of a real monster, the man who murdered the mother of the little girls she works with at the stable. Neither does she expect to fall for Ford Elkhart, Daphne's handsome son, who is dealing with his own demons. As family and friends gather for a wedding, Taylor starts to imagine a permanent life in Baltimore. But not if the real monster gets to her first...

wow this book was good. I read the first half on Friday when I was off and spent every spare moment over the weekend and today trying to finish it. My #bfc book goal was 2/week and this is book one for week 1. I‘ve read a couple of her books before and liked them despite their length. This one was a little shorter and there‘s quite a bit going on. All the characters were well done with no ambiguity on who to root for! #goodguysalltheway

CoverToCoverGirl She definitely writes with an edge and keeps me riveted to the pages every time! Murder and mayhem always reign supreme in her books! I need to read Closer Than You Think before this one. I really like how all her books are inner connected. 6y
CocoReads I need to go back and start from the beginning because I enjoy that inner connectedness too but I‘ve been relying on what the library has. Probably time to see what the used shops have around 6y
BethM Dang girl 2 a week! Good for you! 6y

CocoReads @BethM now that I‘ve passed my test for work, I can go back to reading for pleasure. 😁📚 6y
Bookwormjillk Wow! 2 a week! Impressive. 6y
CoverToCoverGirl It really does add to the overall story arc to read them in order... and a we agree some series are better for it... Hangmen/ Last Riders obviously come to mind.. I want the next in those series so bad... 6y
TheSpineView Wow great start! 6y
Caterina My goal is 2 books a week too! We can do it! 🙌 Sounds like a good first book to finish! 6y

Not bad for only working a 4 hour shift. Imagine what I could have done if I‘d actually stayed. But this is day 3 of 7 straight so I opted to just work my 4. Still have to do my workout but I just finished the tagged book, first of my 2 per week! #bfc @wanderinglynn

#BFC it‘s my one day off before I work 7 straight but I did the hard thing (and this one may have been the hardest yet) and got my workout in. Now I‘m going to cool off and read another chapter of the tagged book.

CoverToCoverGirl @CocoReads Haven‘t read that one yet, but ALL her books are excellent! Hope you‘re feeling better soon! 6y
CocoReads Thanks. Even with feeling lousy I‘ve done laundry, bought and repackaged a months worth of meat, and baked 2 cakes (having the girls family party tomorrow at my moms after work). No rest for the wicked! 🤣🤣🤣 6y

Karen Rose MONSTER IN THE CLOSET is a twisty tale of love and murder. There‘s a lot going on in this book, Karen Rose masterfully weaves the many threads together into a captivating story, could not put down. We catch up with characters from previous books in the series, and it is always a joy to be reunited with the close-knit bunch. The relationships between the various people just add to the story which makes this novel so much fun to read.

July wrap up: 14 total books. I just finished this one not to long ago. I read a lot of Karen Rose this month. So that's the picture and one book I tagged.

This was a great book. Found a myself tearing up quite a few times. Only issue is I had to concentrate on getting all the secondary characters straight. Ocerall, really enjoyed this book.

Almost the only sunny day for the past week, and we're getting another week's worth if rain starting this weekend. So took my two pups out for a big walk. Cooper is such a cutie!
Now finishing up this book. Feel like I've been reading it forever. It's good, just had too much going on to read much.

1. Started this book last night. Already drawn in!
2. My mom. She always had a book with her and she read to me since I was a baby.
3. I can read at any time but almost always read at night before going to sleep.
4. I have had a lot of books and characters stay with me but since I just finished the latest novella, I'll say the characters in the ACOTAR series.

This was a great read. Iy had everything, murder, suspense, family, and new loved. Karen Rose does not fail to bring all her stories to the brink of excitement. Did a child see her father murder her mother?

If you like this series - then you'll like this new edition. Good development of the main characters and a good crime plot at the centre.
My only gripe is that characters always have to fall in love within 30 seconds of meeting and then sizzle with lust for most of the book (which is only in real time 2 days long). This might be putting me off future ones, or I might just stop moaning about it!!
