An unexpected inheritance plunges beloved British mystery author Josephine Tey into a disturbing puzzle of dark secrets connecting the present and the past in this intriguing historical mystery brimming with psychological tension. But Josephine is not the only benefactora woman named Lucy Kyte is also in Hester's will. Sorting through the artifacts of her godmother's life, Josephine is intrigued by an infamous murder committed on the cottage's grounds a century before. This old crimedubbed the Red Barn murderstill haunts the tight-knit village and its remote inhabitants. Is it superstition, or is there a very real threat that is frightening the locals? And is the truth related to the mysterious Lucy Kyte, whom no one in the village admits to knowing? Surrounded by the shadows of obsession, abuse, and deceit, with a palpable sense of evil thickening around her, Josephine must untangle historic tragedy from present danger to prevent a deadly cycle from beginning once again.

After reading The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey in April, I decide to pull this book featuring Josephine Tey as a sleuth. It is part of a series of her adventures. I have read 2 others over the years. #serieslove2023 #goldeagecrimeclub

Pickpick

My favourite so far in the “Josephine Tey” series, this 5th book,Tey‘s Godmother,a theatre actress has died & left her a cottage in Suffolk with a murky past.Tied to a famous murder in 1828,it comes with its ghosts(literally & figuratively)but she falls in love & makes it her own.But suspicions about Hester‘s death & feeling a presence have made her question her choice. My #MountTBR2019 #Bk12 #LitsyAtoZ2019 #LetterD #LLB19 #FeaturingAReaderOrWriter

I‘m tossing up for tonight‘s read. Should I read the third book in the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire or dive straight in to the fifth book in the Josephine Tey series by Nicola Upson?🤔 #decisionsdecisions #fantasyorcrime #bookworldproblems

Lindy I bailed on Sugar Sky after 40 pages, but that‘s just because I wasn‘t in the mood. There‘s a great scene involving a vagina early on, however. 7y

Late night reading: one of my fresh batch of library books, another Josephine-Tey-as-a-detective novel from Nicola Upson. I start nights tomorrow so I'm staying up late tonight to help get on to nightshift time.

Lizpixie I loved the first novel in this series! I need to pick up the rest.👍 8y
