Finished this one last night before bed! It was recommended by a friend of my sister‘s. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but am now kind of scared to read the others since I didn‘t realize it was part of a trilogy. In my experience the first book is always the best and then the rest go downhill.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

Day 101th

Join the fun if you want!

Book 12 of the year, finished Feb 17, eyeball

Another kinda new take on fantasy! I mean, it's got all the tropes: evil witch, ancient wizard, dwarves, the orphaned children of prophecy, powerful magical artifacts... But it's all put together in a way that feels new. It's definitely drawing on other books, I felt a strong presence of Tolkien, but it's absolutely it's own story well told.

On the waiting list for the 2nd book now.

“His voice and that image - the tall man silhouetted in the doorway - would haunt Kate for years, as it was the last time she saw her mother, the last time her family was together.“

i like this suspenseful book. It's a good read for younger children who enjoy a little bit of mystery.

Books one and 2 had map frames. These were switched out at book three for a full illustrated cover.

One of the clients I work for gave me this entire series for my birthday in December. I had somehow missed this when I was younger but it‘s never too late!!! I fell in love with these three kiddos. If you have never read this I definitely suggest it! It‘s like Harry Potter meets Chronicles of Narnia. And today is my clients birthday so I‘m posting this is honor of her special day!!! Happy Birthday Karen!!! 🎂🎉🎈📚❤️🎁

smilingshelves Yes! I love this series! 7y

#middlegrademay

This audio read by Jim Dale was so much fun!

I could recommend this to youth who like Harry Potter or Series of Unfortunate Events, but it is definitely its own story. Action packed, suspenseful, and a lot of heart.

Now for book 2 on audio...

So maybe you all can help me? What's the #subtitle here? I think it should be the line that starts "An ancient book...". But if I'm correct, then which of the remaining titles is the title and what's the other one called? I'm very confused. These are not things they teach in law school or if they did it's been too long and I've forgotten. #aprilbookshowers

Missusb My understanding is that there is no subtitle. The book's title is The Emerald Atlas. The Books of Beginnings looks like the series name. The Ancient line is more like a teaser, a catch cry, a Tagline... #mytwocents @Texreader #cantresist #letmelibrarianthatforyou #alwayswantedachancetodothat #thanks (edited) 8y
